Let’s Meet the Players:

  • A sheet of paper per pinwheel, we used a piece of colored paper as well,
  • Wax crayons, we used only white ones,
  • Watercolor paints,
  • Lick and stick paper, we had some lying around,
  • A wooden Skewer,
  • A thumbtack.

Let’s Play the Game:

Step 1: We started with printer paper and mad it square by folding a triangle over and snipping along the straight line. Then we folded our squares to find the centre before we began working.

Fold, fold, fold, snip, snip, snip. And ready to go:

And we painted away:

Step 4: We placed our paintings on colorful card because they were a bit flimsy in places… and folded them again to be sure of the middle point.

Snip about two thirds along the fold lines towards the center point:

And you will have a pile of pinwheels almost good to go:

Step 5: But that wasn’t enough, we decided to decorate the backs as well. We used lick and stick paper…

Chopped it into little triangles…

And made stained glass windows on the back of our pinwheels.

Step 6: You will need a wooden skewer and a thumbtack for each pinwheel. Fold every other corner to the center of the pinwheel and pin them onto the skewer.

And before you know it you will have a bunch of pinwheels…

Step 7: Finally we took them outdoors to plant them in the garden…

That’s it – easy as can be… and decorating any old way makes this project as easy or as hard as you want it to be.
