Since you all liked the previous Patricia St. John GiveAway so much here is another one. As usual I have to thank Christian Book Discounters who kindly supplied the book for this GiveAway…
Patricia St. John is one of the best authors of Worthy Books for kids. Not only are these books worthwhile but they are almost impossible to put down. Her books are not sickly sweet and they don’t necessarily have a terribly happy ending, but they are true to the scenario she is depicting and an honest reflection on life. I think it is the honesty and truth in her stories that makes you want to read them until they are finished – you just have to see how things turn out!!!
This weeks book is:
This book is about a young girl who, through many toils and trials carries her little brother across a country in Africa hoping to escape a war zone. She toils her way through many dangers and famine, totally reliant on herself. After an incredible journey limping along from one desolate village to the next they finally get to a refugee camp where they both suffer terrible illness. Far beyond what we would ever expect of our children, yet this is the “normal” for many kids in refugee torn lands. Will her family ever be reunited, will she ever get beyond this desperate survival? Gripping I tell you…
If you have never come across Patricia St. John and her brilliant chapter books for kids (that I can never leave unread) then have a look at our previous post on Patricia St. John where I wrote more about her.
The GiveAway works in the usual way, comment on this post before the end of this coming Friday, 4 December 2009, and I will draw and publish the winner next week on Sunday! – I won’t respond to your comments as I do on our other posts because I don’t want to be included in our own giveaway.
Our GiveAway Books are open to everyone: If you have won a GiveAway before never fear – enter away. If you live on the far side of the world – enter away. Postage takes forever from here but eventually it should get to you!
Good luck and get commenting!
