But the garden thinks it is spring…

And then the weather got glorious agin and everyone headed south… traffic, traffic, traffic… and the irony of a street sign called “potholes…”

The days are getting longer and the laundry is finally drying again!!!
DSC_0605

And nobody came visiting!!! Nobody at all!!!
DSC_0322

And our house was defended against any aliens coming in the gate…
DSC_0317

And even the toughest guards take a cookie break!!!
DSC_0319

And birdwatching reached a pinnacle!!!
DSC_0710

There was pirateering at a whole new level, with a surprise package filled with tattoos and pirate patches from a friends faraway – how exciting, how fun!!!

DSC_0485

There was practicing, practicing, practicing… exam time is looming!!!
DSC_0001

And hamburgers… could this young man like hamburgers more!!!
DSC_0496

The youngest man has a new book reading technique: Open all the books you love on your favorite page… all the baking!!! And then march up and down saying yum, yum!!!
DSC_0621

There has been plenty of the usual arting…
DSC_0587

This what they wake up to most mornings…
DSC_0726

And then some more watercolors…
DSC_0472

I am not kidding… can we just call this the week of watercolors!!!
DSC_0312

Okay I will stop with the watercolors, but don’t make me choose an artwork from all of these!!!

So let this be the best book of the week:

And this is what the Hoods got up to:
Hood #1: Mini Lego worlds…

Hood #4: All he wants to do is play the drums!!!
DSC_0666

Hood #5: Slicing, slicing, slicing… onions are the technique of the week!!!
DSC_0497

And apple sauce… I really do live with a chef!!!
DSC_0098

Hood #6: Conquered the Miffy puzzles…
DSC_0721

And hijacked her sisters violin lessons!!!
DSC_0483

Hood #7: We had a lazy afternoon at friends for lunch, would you look at that fantastic swing!!!
DSC_0656

Hood #8: Same friends and this young man discovered wheels…
DSC_0662

  3. the suit? did you manage to get it off for cleaning, or has he changed his mind about it now? that’s a smart little boy with all his cooking books 🙂

  4. Oh Sharelle, The suit needs some stitching and I am notoriously bad at mending… I know a man needs his suit… And I must get onto it!!! A little boy and his cooking books – maybe we will have more than one chef in our house quite soon!!! Hope you have a great week!!!

  5. Sorry for the colds. We have some going on here too. Two chefs sounds fun. My chef has popovers in the oven for breakfast- yum! Have a great weekend, Lillian

  6. Hi Lillian, I won’t even mention popovers in my house… there will be a riot in the kitchen as everyone gets into the mood!!! Two chefs does sound fun… hopefully one does desserts and the other mains!!! I tell you this could be a reason to look forward to my old age, after all!!! Hope you have a fun weekend!!!

  7. Hi Nash, Great to meet you and thank you so much for stopping by and saying hello!!! Isn’t it amazing how much our little ones learn just by living alongside us!!! I am all for it!!! Hope you have a fun week with your boys… enjoy all the bits of sunshine you can get!!!

  8. What MEMORIES!!! I was hoping to catch a glimpse of YOU in the drum shot (your reflection)! YOU need to get in more photos mama! SO DO I… :):):)

  9. Hi there – I also LOVE your pirate toys – where oh where did you find such lovely ones?

  10. Hay KM, I got the father person to take the shot, I was too busy lazing in the sunshine outdoors!!! I have been thinking a lot about making memories with my kids and making sure I am in some photographs with them… just not publishing those so much!!! At ALL!!! But I do have an upcoming post and I intend to put a pic in it… don’t faint!!! It could still happen!!!

  11. Oh Kim… Our pirate toys… If you are in Cape Town: His little ship is a plan toy and we got it from the brilliant toy shop in Gabrielle Road. And the other pirates and a big ship come from Nucleus Toys. Hope that helps!!! If you are further away I will look for some links for you!!! Have a great day!!!

  12. I hope who ever invented the red and yellow covered car has made a fortune. Whenever we have come across one, they have been popular. Toddlers sprinting to reach and empty one first! Good luck with the music exams.

  13. Oh Cheryl, Every child here grows up with a little black bike, but it was our first meeting with a red and yellow car: Love at first sight!!! What can I say!!!
