It has been a while since a Week That Was Post and really it is beyond time that we catch up…
It is the season for getting our shoes on…
And neighbourhood walks…
The beach has been overtaken by December’s howling wind and visitors… but we are locals and holding our breathe. After Christmas most of the visitors will go home and the wind should die down and we will reclaim!!!
We may not be at the beach right now – but there is a lot of water play going on…
And Cape Town, well at least Kalk Bay is putting its best foot forward and summer parties are in full swing…
And live entertainment… when a truck couldn’t fit down our street…
And we have been puppeteering…
And end of year concerts…
By the dozen…
And gardening…
And protective services…
We have been busy… with Lego’s…
Very busy…
And rock collecting…
And one-on-one the parties…
We have been gaming… it doesn’t take as long as you might think and so worth the fun!!!
Art has taken on a new meaning around here… when you run out of paper, just head for the recycling and an egg box will do…
Serious creating…
Serious painting…
And a massive project is underway… you will have to watch out for it…
Our artwork of the week… well someone made their very first pompom… and may have started a plague of them!!!
Living literature…
Books, books, books…
And the reading of books:
And our book of the week has to be:
Why have we never read these before… a funny lighthearted book about a nativity play… where some terribly naughty children make the local town stop and think about the story of Christmas for the first time ever. It is a really quick read and my kids loved it… a chapter a night and it was done in less than a week… so excellent if you want to read a Christmas story at bedtime in the week running up to Christmas.
And this is what the Hoods have been up to:
Hood #1: Packed his bags and headed out for a week of teen camp. Loved every second of it and talked straight for three hours straight when he got home… For myself, how did this happen so fast? How did my kids grow up so fast… gasp. And after successfully completing his Nanowrimo 50000 words he is plotting and planning more and more books at an alarming rate…
Hood #2: Led the way in summer preparation… summer means short hair… it is just too hot for anything else!!!
I think someone else was quite keen on the whole haircut thing…
Hood #3: Is taking the puppet world by storm!!!
Hood #4: May need a little help with his cooking skills – he has no problem with enthusiasm and a man after my own heart, there can never be too much ganache!!!
Hood #5: Has taken on exploring…
Hood #6: A bug hunter at work…
Hood #7: Robin Hood’s side kick…
Hood #8: I think we may have another chef on our hands…
Seriously, he has no problem whipping up a batch of muffins.
And yes we are starting to get into Christmas gear – but can not blog about it at all… my kids are of an age and too many little eyes will see what gifts their siblings are making for each other…
That ganache covered cake looks like my sort of cake!
Oh Zoe!!! I have to say that there was not one single complaint about it!!! Yum!!! Hope you have had a great week!!!
