Well here we are in the heart of winter… torrenting rain, freezing cold and longing for summer…

We are redefining stormy and wintry over here…

Actually, the weather has been undecided…

The time has just been flying by… and though we are “finished” with our school year… I promised my kids a full and dedicated hour each day to help them go through their journals and work on their math. Just add up those hours!!! Oh what was I thinking!!! My days have been busy… and blog intentions have flown out of the window…

It is good, it leaves all the other kids free to pursue whatever they want to without too much overseeing… free to just be. And everyone is working really, really hard on our Journal a Day Project…
Meanwhile, did I mention that it has been really cold…

So lots and lots of “cocoa ‘o clock”…

And microwave fudge – oh my!!! Fudge definitely helps to keep the cold at bay, we have discovered… just saying!!! Also if you pour it into a container and want to speed up the cooling process, you might not want to place it on a glass shelf in your refrigerator… there will be a lively crackle and living science!!!

You will have to visit the hardware store to buy fresh glass… and really I should do this more often – wonderful fun!!!

And he loves me!!!

And strange beasts on the couch…

Snuggly, cuddly bedtimes…

We have been in the great outdoors learning about whales… please observe: all children in long sleeves and trousers… and shoes… yes that is how cold it is, we are actually dressing for the weather!!!

Amazing and awesome creatures…

But we haven’t spotted any this season yet…

And a visit to the wild and crazy shores at Cape Point, where the waves were so enormous we could actually see fish in them!!!

We have been out feasting… to the Food Barn Deli, where they always treat us like royalty!!!

And then suddenly we had a few days of Summer… before the wild storminess continued…

And too the beach we went… for a little wave jumping…

And castling…

And grand scale…

And the tide came in…

And we made a new friend…

Hours of gardening when the sun came out… not to mention a bit of basking…

And laundry actually drying!!!

and we weren’t the only ones basking…

My little helper… well every gardener needs a break!!!

Otherwise there have been inventions…

Playing of one kind and another…

Tons of visitors… and many late nights!!!

All sorts of visitors…

Breakfast left for me on my desk…

And I have been meaning to put a chalkboard up in the garden about forever… finally did it… fun times!!!

Artwork of the Week: Right now our journals are our artwork…
And suddenly… his daily study in black had become a picture with parts and a story…

And carefully selected colours…

Our book of the Week: Piles of books… But this weeks favourite…

Oh my… a few tears may well have been shed, how beautiful is this book!!!

And this is what the hoods have been up to:
Hood #1: Science experiments at dawn…

Hood #2: Is mastering chilling…

Hood #3: My intrepid adventurer(!!!) discovering a look out point that we hadn’t seen before… How beautiful is this lookout point!!!

Hood #4: Finally found his blazer… it is only about three sizes too big, but the man has style and one day without suiting up is a day too many!!!

Hood #5: Our chef has been baking away as usual…

And discovering maps and mapping…

Hood #6: Has discovered trees and is the best at vanishing before my eyes…

Hood #7: We are living with royalty…

Hood #8: And I had to post this photo of my little guy, who has slept on my back like a koala since he was about three weeks old… eventually he is going to get too big to be “his mama’s blanket” and I don’t ever want to forget this…

And that’s us… hope your week is full of fun!!!
What a fun filled busy week – and that last picture of you & your koala is precious! xo

Hi Christa, I am so sorry that I can not help you… I bought it years ago at a sidewalk sale… and just found it again when I was cleaning out piles of accumulated papers!!! It was a great find… a dinosaur one, flags, animals and space!!! but I really have no idea where to find them now!!! Otherwise I hope you have the most incredible weekend!!!
