Book of the Week: The Landy Series… A GiveAway…

We just discovered Landy, in fact the whole series. Delightful picture books all about land rovers and the great outdoors.

The Landy series is a series of books written by Veronica Lamond

Published by Penguin Random House South Africa.

These books are solid hardback stories, with a whole lot of wholesome themes going on… all the good things that make friendship great, without being twee and did I mention the great outdoors. They are very readable and will totally appeal to all potential farmers, animal lovers, environmentalists, fishermen and mechanics. The illustrations totally make the books, so many details… what’s in that tool box or tackle box, roadworks and the farmyard, how to change a tyre and camping, basically cool crisp countryside and lots of the great outdoors. You can read about Landy, and his author, Veronica Lamond at her website.

Let’s Meet the Books

Landy: The Landrover is found abandoned and is then repaired and restored back to life. The first book takes place in a farmyard and is full of lovely farm life and everything to do with car repairs, of course.

Fender: The next book in the series, Fender… introduces Landy’s best friend… who lives at the seaside and does exciting projects like beach clean-ups, and they rescue a seal pup too. This story is filled with lovely seaside illustrations…

Landy’s New Home: Back to the farmyard and Landy’s new home in the country. In this story all the farm animals get new homes, a coop, a sty and so on. Everyone except Landy gets a new home, until there is a wild thunderstorm and then Landy gets a great shed and his own new home too.

Fender’s Day at the Harbour: And finally, Fender gets to stay on the quay, while the drivers go off on a fishing trip… Unfortunately Fender gets a puncture at a critical moment… and they are very nearly home late for tea.

The GiveAway

The youngest one of us really loves these books and has been carrying them around everywhere… and we have two of the series to GiveAway. This GiveAway works in the usual way, leave a comment before the end of play on 29 February 2016 and tell us if you would prefer a countryside or seaside kind of landrover. We will draw and publish the winners in the Fabulous Fun Post after that. I won’t respond to your comments as I do on our other posts because I don’t want to be included in our own giveaway. Our GiveAways are open to everyone: If you have won a GiveAway before never fear – enter away. If you live on the far side of the world – enter away. Postage takes forever from here but eventually it should get to you! Good luck and happy commenting!!!

We would like to thank the publishersPenguin Random House South Africa who supplied us with copies of the books to review and giveaway. We were not paid for the review and the opinions expressed in it are as usual, entirely our own.
