This feels like a “full circle” kind of a post. In the olden days, when blogging was young, we used to donate a library every year, to a local school in need. Friends from all over the world would buy books and ship them to a local school and together we would create libraries…

Libraries We Created Book by Book
- A rural village school in Lesotho.
- A Township School in Stanford.
- And a Community library in Eerste River.
- A library for a School in Need.
- A Primary School Library in Manenburg.
- A Library for a School Without Books.
And then shipping to South Africa became tricksy, and then our mail system collapsed and then we had several years of Covid and needless to say our Annual “Build a Library Book by Book Project” needed a break. But there is way to move forwards…

The Cape Town Silent Book Club
When the Cape Town Silent Book Club met up with The Bookery, we rediscovered a way to raise a library, book by book. The Bookery is a local organisation that helps local schools create libraries for themselves, they sponsor librarians and provide books. They are a vital organisation, in the big picture, of creating a love of reading in this country. If it sounds like your thing, then take a look at their website: https://thebookery.org.za
