Sunday Snippet: Global Graffiti…

This website: Wycliffe Kids Site has so many useful resources for teaching folk about spreading the gospel, literally to the ends of the earth…

I have used this particular project, Global Graffiti, a couple of times. It is a great way to mobilize a large number of people and get them thinking of the whole world as a mission field. It is also a good way to get to know a group of folk, nothing like a project to get people chatting. First you need a group of kids wanting to learn about missions…

Then just follow the printable directions. They instruct you to draw a large map of the world… and I have always done it on fabric with a permanent marker… I leave it on a large table, with a bunch of fabric markers and fabric paints. Then as folk arrive they are given direction cards, which you print out in advance. You can add missionaries, that you know of, to the cards and it is really easy to come up with extra ideas if you have more folk; easier cards for younger kids and harder cards for those especially bright participants.

Finally it is always good to end this kind of project with a snack, else you will not get any eager artists to move on… At the end of the day take the fabric home and iron the artwork to fix the paint and you are done. You have a nice table cloth or hanging to help the group remember the fun they had together, not mention the purpose of the project… Matthew 28:19,20.
