Saturday Spot: The Keyhole Garden Continued…

Last week I posted on the beginnings of our Keyhole Garden. A while ago we posted a “Virtual Keyhole Garden Post,” with links to how to get going. So this is where we left off:

And then we went shopping for plants – a few more than our poor keyhole garden could hold!

So we got planting…

And filling the overflow where ever we could.

Someone had to be in charge:

And the strawberry girl optimistically popped a few strawberries plants on the side.

So there is our keyhole garden planted with chives, celery, tomatoes, a couple of teeny broccoli and cauliflowers…

And now we have a new chore in the house…

The central basket is for kitchen cuttings and peels, coffee grinds, egg shells and such like.

We keep it covered with a heavy ceramic dish – to prevent local vermin from unpacking it! Not to mention that one day after we planted this chap came a calling:

But luckily he went on his way, totally disinterested in our vegetables. Previously when we have planted potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots we couldn’t keep them away. Hopefully they don’t like broccoli or tomatoes! After almost a week our plants have settled, and they are actually growing.

And this is where we are now:

Hopefully we will post a fabulous harvest, or any harvest in a couple of weeks.
