The Week That Was – 2.23

The weather is hot, hot, hot…

Last Sunday on the way to church we watched the Christmas Toy Run…

Otherwise, Cape Town is filling up with World Cup Soccer fever…

We went on an outing to Kalk Bay, car repairs – what can I say.

And a trip through our favorite bookshop…

Not to mention the ice-cream store:

Otherwise my usual clearing out became a mad furniture removal…

We had some pirating… sailing on the ocean blue:

And it was hot enough to do some mad pirating on the couch…

Meanwhile I said he would bring me flowers and he brought me this instead… he is a mad mad man!!! And the book of the week would have to be the very fat Nikon D5000 Manual, which is very soporific, trust me!!!

Now here is a funny home truth (not so funny for me)… the very first photograph I take with every new camera is always of a black and blue toe. New camera means broken toe – every time. Lets just say I kicked the bed as I went past it and blood curdling yell and black and blue. So while my foot is up I am staggering through the manual. And lets just say I am very grateful that it comes with a day of free training (whoop and joy!!!) and I will tell you all about in January when I go on the course. I am so excited since the only camera knowledge I have is to take a million shots on the hope of getting a good one!!!

Anyway this is what the hoods got up to this past week:

Hood #1: Got to engage his little brother in conversation, and clearly it was very interesting:

And dreamt of another day at the Strandloper:

DSC08848

Hood #2: Is mastering the art of putting his little brother to sleep… and very carefully putting him down!!! He is also pretty good at keeping him company when he wakes up in the morning far too early for the rest of us!!!

DSC08953DSC08963

Meanwhile he finally got his saxophone and after waiting all year for it and playing the recorder instead, he has finally arrived and all is very well with his soul!!!

DSC08852DSC08836DSC08854

Hood #3: Has been sewing-up a storm!!! Just wait and see the projects are coming!!!

DSC08924

Hood #4: Spent the whole week Zoobing and stroming his way through the last few lessons of Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. Yay we are so nearly done, just in time to start it again for hood #5.

DSC08967

Hood #5: Read and read to his little brother…

DSC08952

He also gave himself a brilliant black eye, who knows how. Climbing over the back wall he connected with a branch and a knee and it was all very complicated and the noise was phenomenal!!!

DSC08842

Hood #6: Discovered some teeny tiny babies, perhaps for all those bigger visitors we have been having…

DSC08889DSC08887<

Hood #7: Spent time getting to know her baby brother…

DSC08914DSC08917DSC08915

Hood #8: Has discovered the very interesting backyard table and the cereal box:

And he appears to be less than totally oblivious anymore:

DSC08959

In fact he is quite a”lert”… and we love little “lerts”!!!

That’s us! Have a great week!!!
