Sunday Snippet: A Faith Cook GiveAway…

Time for another GiveAway. As you know I am mad about reading Christian biographies, and our kids have plied there way through endless tales of great Christian leaders and great Christian missionaries. We love reading them together as a family, not only does they provide our kids with a Christian heritage and a history regarding our beliefs that connect us back to Bible times but they provide a benchmark and a standard for us to live up to.

There is nothing like a hero to make us work harder or leap higher. So this weeks GiveAway is a Faith Cook GiveAway, Out of the Shadows: Nine Short Inspiring Biographies, and really I would like to introduce you to Faith Cook because she writes the most fantastic biographies. Faith Cook was born to OMF Missionaries in China in 1937 and has spent years of her life writing christian biographies. If you happen to see one of her books then grab it, because they are inspiring to say the least.

I have found that biographies bring to life real people, people that may otherwise have been forgotten and thought of as irrelevant to us. The great thing about reading heaps of different biographies is that for all the wild variety of people there is very often someone quite like ourselves and we can say – “That could have been me” about a lot of them. You can read about the choices and decisions that these people have made in the past and how it affected their lives for better or for worse. Also a book like this one with a series of biographies can give us an understanding for an important event in time, that the reading of “just the facts” could never have provided. Very often a biography is written in a way that describes the pain and suffering of an event and an era, often these tales of their faith put our grumblings into perspective, really they do!!!

In this book you can read short biographies for:

  1. James Lackington
  2. Richard Rodda
  3. Fanny Burnett
  4. Michael Bruce
  5. Lorenzo Dow
  6. Elizabeth Singer Rowe
  7. William Dell
  8. Hallgrimur Petursson
  9. Patricia St John

If you want to know about all these people and the story of their lives… then enter away!!!

I could ask you a question: Which one of these people was a relative of Charles Dickens… You don’t have to know, just hazard a guess for fun… Leave a comment to enter!!!

As usual I have to thank CBD, our GiveAway book suppliers for another great book.
