Bug Art… instead of a party

Last week I thought I would write all about parties this week – well now that this week is here there is an ever so slight change of plan… the thought of going on about parties is killing me and before you have to die of boredom wading through party ideas I figured I would fling in an arty crafty thing we did the other day… hopefully a bit of creativity will get the old party mind back in gear…

In my defense we did do this craft for a 2 year old birthday party (hood #6, my wild child just came of age recently).

Notice only six items were created (hood #7 is still too short) and people that are really short still think the whole world is their family and why should I destroy her reality, or my fragile sanity, by inviting twenty other short people round to our house…

So here it is: remember the theme is “bugs”…

As with any arty crafty project I assume that everyone else in the world has all sorts of junk lying about the house: and this sort of project just tends to evolve in our house…

So we started with some old mini doilies and drew/scribbled with marker all over them…

Then we spattered them with glitter and glitter glue… and then paused to think, just for a second…

What about tissue paper as well…

Oh and what about contact paper (always handy), we needed to glue stuff on both sides and we couldn’t possibly wait for it to dry, so we put contact paper bigger than the doily on the now very sticky side and then turned them over to continue with the frantic glittering stuff…

Then oh my goodness some feathers for feelers…

And pipe cleaners for legs – the inventor of pipe cleaners should actually be idolized forever more.

Finally the promise of a snack (the only way to ever end a craft project) meant we popped contact on top and trimmed it down a bit…

And there you go: se7en shiny bugs ready to hang on the window… I know I said six, but one of them is mine – don’t faint – I know you can’t tell them apart … toddler art is very “insinc” with adult art in this house… Seriously, I believe kids must do their own projects and in order to keep myself from poking my fingers into their projects I always make my own project as an example!!!. Ta da:
