So much has been happening that I have to stop and write a Week That Was Post… Seasons have changed, kids have grown, lessons have been learnt… and we are rocking along… with a whole lot more rain than is usual for this time of year. And we have seen our first whale of the season leap right out of the ocean before our eyes… splash!!!
For those of you that are new to our blog: A Warm Welcome… Our weather tree is a tree that we keep colored, leaf-by-leaf, month-by-month. Each branch is a month of the year and each leaf is a day. The green leaves are for sunny days and the blue leaves for rainy days. Yes, we could add a whole lot more features added but we have found that simpler is better works for us!!!
The days are definitely colder…
And everything is crisper…
Amazing skies…
And cold as it is has become there are still a few little hoods that insist it is the weather for swimming…
But really it is cold and that baked apple time of year…
And late afternoon tea as it suddenly gets cold when the sun sets…
We have been doing all sorts of important stuff… like running on the beach…
And it is the season for the beach… it is deserted by everyone else!!!
We have been gathering:
And discovering…
Waving at trains…
And castling…
And dancing…
And arting…
And strength training…
Will my kids ever tire of playing in the sand… on a small scale?
Or a grand scale!!!
Not to mention we have had the usual crowd of visitors…
And little critters… lots of these… ’tis the season. Not yet too cold to be solid, not so hot that they stay out of the sun.. perfect basking weather!!! And where there are lots of little ones… there is also a rather large one lurking – though we are all pretending not to know!!!
When we haven’t been at the beach it is because it has been raining… and we have been building “book nests” everywhere…
There has been an interesting collection of knights around the round table…
And music lessons…
And sleepovers…
We’ve dreamt a little…
And cooked a little…
We’ve worked a little…
We’ve cuddled a little…
And we have laughed a lot!!!
And heaps of arting…
And our artwork of the week is:
Of course we read some books… and then a few more and then another trip to the library…
Yup we have read through mountains of books…
And our book of the week has to be … it is so good and we return to it time and time again!!!
And this is what the Hoods have been up to:
Hood #1: Our Lego engineer is in…
And he has discovered the art of college lever essays is a little trickier than he once thought!!! A good lesson learnt young!!!
Hood #2: And chess games with his grandfather, and if you read a book at the same time, you are most likely to lose… Chess is like that!!!
Hood #3:Read a whole lot more than the rest of us!!!
Hood #4: Jeeps have been built… Some of us are going places…
The feather man discovered a rooster feather…
Hood #5: Our chef has moved on from slicing and dicing to learning about knives… the names, the types and the reason for their existence… our clumsy collection it being put through its paces.
And he has been doing price comparisons… ingredients and all that…
Hood #6: Has got the whole “I can’t spend enough hours in the day doing school” bug… and driving some of her lazier siblings a little nuts with her boundless, round-the-clock, enthusiasm!!!
And when she isn’t making homes for baby snakes she is playing with dolls!!!
Hood #7: Is incognito… or in her brothers cloak-o…
And what can I say – inside, outside, upside down…
Hood #8: Is finally out of his plaster cast… and hence the endless trips to the beach to strengthen those little leg muscles… Tell me that leg will get strong and the he will run around like a wild beast again!!! I guess that deserves a whole special post of its own!!!
Anyway that’s us!!! Hope you have a fantastic weekend!!!
What a beautiful life! you capture them all so wonderfully!!!! everytime I view one of your weekly snapshots I think what a treasure it is going to be for your kids to look back on when they are adults.
Hello again Katherine Marie… I love looking back through our “weeks that was” posts and seeing just how small my kids were when we started blogging!!! Fun!!! Lots of love from all of us!!!
