Sunday Snippet: God’s Ordinary People… A GiveAway…

In our world, where we are intrigued by the lives of the rich and famous, we are often oblivious to the folk behind the scenes that maintain the lifestyle of the stars… And even in our own lives, do you ever feel like there are real heroes? And then there is you… Even at church there appear to be those leaders that shine so much brighter. There are those folk that just seem to reach higher, shine brighter, bake for more functions much more often!!! There are those folk that are involved in everything and always doing something brilliant… and then there are others, more like us, that kind of plod along… get to church timeously most weeks, do our daily bed-time prayers… but we never seem to be doing something incredible – certainly nothing heroic or headline worthy… just regular folks with regular lives.

It turns out that God is very interested in His ordinary people, so much so that he packed the Bible full of stories about them. The more you meet the people within the pages of the Bible, the more you realise that the people that shine are really regular folk with regular lives: midwives, cupbearers, carpenters, poor widows… the list goes on. In a world that is always seeking “bigger and better, stronger and faster,” the Bible is packed with encouragement… None of these folk would make news headlines, yet they were all instrumental in the unfolding story of salvation that Bible presents.

The books I have to GiveAway today are really written simply to encourage us that we are anything but ordinary in God’s eyes. These are the people behind the big names… behind the Great Kings and the Prophets, they were regular folk… just soldiering away in their ordinary lives and as you read on, you will see that nobody is ordinary… appearances are very much deceiving. time and time again those folk, that you think are just ordinary end up doing the most extraordinary things for God. These two books are the third in the series. Short and easy to read chapters, they would make fantastic Bible study book to read as a family after dinner or great for teen/kids Bible Study. Each chapter is followed by three “think it through” type questions. I enjoyed reading them and I know my kids would enjoy them too!!!
