So the first wild storm of winter hit us… and this wild gang loved it, despite being soaked through and freezing cold.
The weather is a little confused… and can’t decide what colour to be…
And it is the season for incredible sunrises at a fairly respectable hour…
And just generalised beautifulness…
And hanging around…
And visiting friends…
And one child that still thinks it is appropriate to swim…
Occasionally I have no words…
We blogged about se7en + 1 things we would like to try each week this year… and we are popping our 52 Weeks progress into our Week that Was post… accountability and all that!!!
Our 52 Week Challenge
- Walk of the Week: We have been on a hiking roll, with epic hikes at least once a week for the longest time…
- Game of the Week: The game of the moment is Cluedo… they are inventing their own wild and wacky games of who did it!!!
- My Just Because Book:
- Letter of the Week: We have been writing quite a few letters, to my surprise… we seem to be getting into the swing of it. The sweet rewards when a friend on the far side of the world, somewhere difficult and remote, received a postcard we mailed six months ago!!!
- Organizing Project of the Week: Sorting the mountains of accumulated little treasures… into some sort of controlled order. It is one thing to declutter and quite another to consolidate the clutter!!!
- Recipe of the Week: Waffles… it is the week of waffles over here.
- Our View from the Deck:
- Our Challenge of the Week: We have been building and creating and finally have a challenging blog post for next week.
And freezing cold evening ambles… even the birds are too cold to go in…
Why have I taken years to read this book… it is a poignant read through the difficult childhood of this incredible woman. It is gritty and raw, her life was genuinely harsh… and she tells it like is. Some books you really need to hold onto while you read and physically turn the pages… this is one of those for sure. Part of me wants to rush through it, but I am purposely slowing it down and savouring her very careful and deliberate use of words.
Otherwise through the lens…
It appears to be the season for lots of little friends…
Not to mention little visitors….
And other visitors…
And candleit dinners…
And we finally produced a crop of corn… actual edible corn…
And then there is LEGO…
And for those of you that imagine our house is always tidy – this is the boys’ room – basically lego and books, what else would anyone need!!!
And when you live with a runner… this takes about three weeks, just saying.
We have been getting things done… like haircuts and paperwork…
Outings of the Week:
And of course doing the penguin shuffle…
And the eye to eye…
The Artwork of the Week
A lot of our time is spent looking for a sunny spot to read…
I confess that we are reading Ottoline and her series again… it may just be because we live with Ottoline…
And a Snapshot in Time
Hood #1: TV presenter…
