This Week’s Highlights
Reading Myself: I am preparing for a massive book review post… so reading a ton. I have to say I am in the mood for a fabulous cookbook. As the business of New Year passes by it feels like just the season to try new tastes and flavours.
Family Reading A-Loud: The Fallacy Detective by Nathaniel and Hans Bluedom. This book is all about reasoning and logic, and learning where arguments tend to fall down. I have to say that my kids weren’t that enthusiastic about the topic, it sounds a little drab… but then we got reading and they are loving it… reasoning and logic skills to empower them to give them great debating skills, and champion training for great arguments. Turns out these are life skills that they want to perfect!!!
Listening: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, from audible, narrated by Nick Offerman…. it’s excellent and we are loving it!!!
Watching with the Kids: The KidLit TV channel on Youtube… stories, author interviews, illustrators at work… just fun.
Watching Myself: A bitter sweet farewell to the Australian Open, I haven’t got immersed in a tennis tournament for ages… and I loved it. But so many many hours spent watching!!!
Planning: A whole new month of “Getting it Done Posts…” and we are headed into the kitchen. Kitchen tasks that we need to get done desperately and kitchen tasks to help us streamline the food situation, which is at least thirty meals a day every day!!!
Re-Discovered: Our Survival of the Season Spot has been revived, the couch is dragged out so that we can sit and read in the evening breeze… it’s kind of balmy when the whole wide evening sky becomes another “room” in your house.
