It might be summertime on the far side of the world, but it sure is Winter over here. That being said, we have had endless sunny days, and the weather has been glorious. So we are all hoping for more rain, and lots of it. Meanwhile, the Northern Hemisphere has a timeless tradition of Summer Camps… and this year with life in lockdown, several regular summer camps are going online. These camps are fantastic, encouraging kids to read, to get outdoors, to make and create things and most important to play. I firmly believe that play is the work of childhood and now more than ever our kids should be playing and playing and playing.
I went for a quick search, looking for fun things to do with my kids during lockdown and I came across Summer Camps, lots of them. I am only showing you ones that are completely free and don’t require any sort of sign up… all of the ones in this post are freely available to anyone and everyone and they really are great.

The Aquarium is Taking Their Courses Online
And We Are Excited About That… I blogged over at the Aquarium Foundation Courses for school children, and how they have managed to take their classes online during the lockdown… well done to them… And this means that kids from anywhere really can sign up and join the fun. My kids have gained masses about life, leadership and the ocean… while learning with the fantastic educational staff at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
And Have You Heard… The Season of Summer Camp
It is the season of Summer Camp all over the world and because of lockdown, it means that loads of camps are going online… loads of them!!! With new and fresh goodies for kids to explore and learn about online everyday…
- Time for Kids had Great Resources for Kids to enjoy EVERY DAY, for an entire month… absolutley fabulous!!!
- Cressida Cowell had the most amazing Week long Creative with Cressida Summer Camp with the Booktrust… haul out your Note Books and Go, Go, Go… invited children’s authors got together and shaired drawing tips and note booking tips… absolute magic and totally fantastic!!!
- And another fun Summer Camp was with Accuweather… all sorts of amazing weather facts, videos, experiments and so on… really fabulous.
- We are still listening our way through Audibles free lockdown pages of stories… they say for kids, but actually a good book is a good book, whatever age you are!!!
- If you have to pretend at going outdoors then do it with North Face and their absolutely epic Great Outdoor Adventures… online learning of the very very best kind: map making, base camp set up, survival skills… this is everything. Just fantastic!!!
- RaddishKids online has a free printable cookbook, full of challenges for your kids to complete.
- And believe it or not… You Tube has a Summer Camp for kids and Teens, you can choose: Stem, Arts, Sports and Adventure… its fun and packed with things to do and make and play…
