After weeks of glorious sunshine we had our first day of cold and wet today… not just rain, but a real reminder of the unmentionable season, which is well on the way… but lets just look at how nice and green our tree really has been and appreciate the lovely long summer we’ve had…

We watched thousands of runners speed by in the pouring rain for the Two Oceans Marathon…

Well some were less speedy…

But they were serenaded anyway…

The weather is starting to have good days…

A and well misty days!!!

And we carry on, with lunches on the rock…

And walks around our colorful town…

And time with the father person before bed…

And possibly the last watermelon of summer…

Sharing…

And caring!!!

There was a giant salad for the father person, when he asked for something green:

And another pizza feast…

There were hours and hours and hours of UNO…

There was a little visitor… who ate right through our coriander crop overnight…

There was a dinosaur hunt… because one must!!!

And we had a visitor… a blog reader visiting Cape Town, who has been reading our blog practically since the beginning!!! Isn’t that amazing…amazing… felt like we had known her forever… and she bought us “Chilli Chocolate”… We just loved meeting her in real life – how special is that!!!

And the happiest boy in town finally got his long promised sand pit…

And then he took up flying…

But he is still pretty much the happiest boy in town…

And close examination of the endless roadworks, provided hours of entertainment…

And my children continue to find stairs for me…

Because a mother must climb stairs…

It always looks better from the top!!!

And a wander through Kalk Bay’s Sunday Market…

We discovered Deer Park…

And my children can not resist a speeding round-about even if they feel quite giddy!!!

And I cannot resist these two – best friends for life…

Special stories with his aunt…

And books…

Plenty of books…

And our artwork of the week…

And instead of the usual book of the week I thought I would show you what I have been reading lately…

And this is what the Hoods have been up to:
Hood #1: In a moment of mad and intense helpfulness unpacked all the top cupboards for me… I have been meaning to do it for months… and there is always a reason why not to…

I looked at the mess for a week and I am finally getting around to it… filling up our recycling with ancient school books… the Back to School clean out is well underway and our days of summer freedom are dashing to an end…

Hood #2: Our champion braai man…

Cooking up a feast…

Hood #3: Can think of very little else, except that impending “11th” birthday… love the excitement!!!

Hood #4: A visit from the spy who loved me…

And more beach house reading…

Hood #5: Is mastering chopping… lots of delicious chopping… there will be no problem with “master chef basics” when he comes of age!!!

Hood #6: Has begun a new project…

Has taking up bag making… of the fast and furious kind!!!

Hood #7: Loves and adores the Dorling Kindersley Craft App for kids… And spends hours making bean bags… I really should make some for real!!!

And continues the house making tradition…

Outside, inside – anywhere, really!!!

Even a house in a towel…

Hood #8: Has spent a lot of time on the couch… and can talk a steady stream for hours… and hours…

He’s off… to collect his father person from work…

And I am so sad to say… he has finally learnt to say his name… and his approximation has gone…

And that’s us!!! Hope you are having a fabulous fun week, wherever you are in the world!!!

Hay Katherine Marie!!! Thank you so much for your sweet comments!!! I think our little guy is getting back into things again… but dying to go outdoors and it had been wet!!! So not an option!!!
