I was planning to blog about a friends exotic trip… But we live with a Celebrity Chef and he has a sugar chef as a friend… who stopped over of a visit and so our weekend went!!! Within five minutes of his arriving there was mixing…

And inevitable tasting!!!

Followed by much more mixing…

And chopping…

And stirring…

And a bubbling…

And setting…

And before I knew it there was a panacotta with a strawberry compote resting in the fridge…

But that wasn’t the real reason for the visit…

This is sugar paste and this was the reason of the visit… Candy Making…
And that requires gloves…

Little gloves…

And lots of gloves…

They warmed the sugar under a lamp…

And when it was warm enough…

And then everyone got terribly busy…

Pulling…

Twisting…

And snipping…

Who knew that that was how to make candy!!!

And on to lolipops

And lenses…

And snakes…

And pulling and pulling and pulling…

So between dessert…

And candy…

We managed to survive the weekend and our brilliant visitors – very well thank-you. Hope you all had a brilliant weekend too!!!
NO WAY!!!! This candy-lovin mama wishes she could have been there to join in the fun and tasting… I can’t believe what you guys so easily whip up!!!!! I’ve never even tried making candy. :):) But I did buy one of those fancy kitchen aid mixers— like the one you guys LOVE so much! How bout a 7+1 post on tips and tricks…. heheheheh… Maybe it will get some use this holiday season. Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration. xoxoxoxo
Oh KM!!! You will love your kitchen Aid… I am so pleased you have one!!! We use ours every single day… play do, whipping, mixing, baking – I use it for so many bazillion recipes!!! I never make cookies/cakes with out them!!! That’s a great post idea – love it!!! And yup candy making is so fun !!! You would totally love it!!! Hay Aunty Muffin!!! We had so much fun!!! Hope you have a brilliant birthday packed with being spoilt!!! We miss you already!!! Lots of lekker love…
That looks so much fun! Makes you wonder how they make candy without 8 children to help! Intrigued by the idea of warming it by the lamp. I’ve only ever seen large cauldrons of sugar been heated before, but maybe that makes a different kind of candy. Just looking at it puts inches on my hips!
