The Week That Was – 3.21

Hi there… We missed you all but it was so good to have a week off!!! What can I say – clear skies and December looming…

DSC_0067

We needed a break… just a bit of peace was in order… and posters weren’t enough!!!
DSC_0084
So we gathered our water bottles…
DSC_0082
And took a trip in our untrustworthy steed…DSC_0889
And we went looking for blue skies…
DSC_0872
We drove…DSC_0877
And drove…DSC_0911
And drove some more…DSC_0916
We wound our way…
DSC_0934
Up hill and down dale…
DSC_0929
To places far…
DSC_0941
From the world of internet…DSC_0944
And zero cell-reception…DSC_0949
To a slice of quiet…
DSC_1857
And a house in the country…
DSC_0961
The nearest neighbors were a couple of goats…DSC_1331
And were they hungry…DSC_1324
It wasn’t just a trip to the country but a trip down memory lane… way down!!! Because in the olden days when I was very short we used to visit the same spot… and we ate at the same table and I am sure it was about ten times bigger then!!!
DSC_0979
But I remember the bushes billowing over my head and I remember the dam was as wide as an ocean… times change, what can I say!!!
We finally met our cow!!!
DSC_1246
And other associated farm animals…
DSC_1231
DSC_1233
DSC_1254
We went on night hikes…
DSC_0982
And had camp coffee…
DSC_0991
We went trailing…DSC_1132
And tracking…
DSC_1387
We discovered beasties…
DSC_0987DSC_1127DSC_1838DSC_1786
And plants…
DSC_1662DSC_1417DSC_1096
We had braai’s every night…
DSC_1124
And turned roosterkoek into pizza…
DSC_1436
Mostly we went exploring…
DSC_1040
And clambering…
DSC_1037
Swimming in every possible waterhole…
DSC_1061
DSC_1821
DSC_1694
And more hiking…
DSC_1629
And exploring some more…
DSC_1691
And hunting…
DSC_1706
And exploring some more…
DSC_1704
And hiking through strange lands…
DSC_1466
And caving…
DSC_1542
And clambering…
DSC_1620
And stretching…
DSC_1506
And hiding…
DSC_1531
And hiding some more…
DSC_1485
And looking at the view…
DSC_1537
And through the window…
DSC_1534
And dashing around…DSC_1551
And discovering…
DSC_1481
And sweltering…
DSC_1659
And recovering…
DSC_1434
We played some Uno…
DSC_1209
And did some painting…
DSC_1205
And Bananagrams…
DSC_1437
And some more painting…
DSC_1210
And some more Uno…DSC_1006
And whizzed through the Kindle:
DSC_1206
And waded through a book shelf of ancient readers digests…
DSC_1845
And our book of the week… has to be my Italian set work book… who knew I could have read the whole thing in English on a bookshelf in the country… we read these stories and laughed out loud, typically bittersweet!!!

Hood #3: Was always happy to be at the destination of a hike than actually on a hike!!!
DSC_1804
Hood #4: Is still the champion feather finder!!!
DSC_0972
And spent his time doing research in the spotters guides…
DSC_1767
Hood #5: Was the dreamer of dreams…DSC_1826

Is sorted and packed away…
