So here we are in December and we have had a couple of great days… but still some cold and rainy ones – which are fabulous for library books… And I know soon enough we will be longing for rain so I am not complaining!!!

Summer brings so many things: bugs

And beasts:

And creepy things…

We are finally back in the splash…

Splish…

Splash…

Splosh…

And who cares if it rained…

And time for haircuts…

And games… heaps of games… Cluedo

And Uno… (Just tell me that other folks kids sit on tables rather than at tables to do anything!!!)

It is the time of year for a game a day…

Even marching games…

And so many friends visiting…

And so many books…

And yes we read some books…

So many books…

And it was all quite exhausting…

The book of the week: We have had a Calvin and Hobbes revival… Just can’t get enough of it… piles of comic books spread all over the house!!!

These little guys mostly flew under the radar while everyone else was busy with school…

Playing of one kind or another…

The artwork of the week was this creepy crawly:

This is what the Hoods have been up to:
Hood #1: The joy of homeschooling… the oldest and youngest have hours to hang out together…
With books…

And just chilling…

Hood #2: Was vanquished at Fifa soccer… and now is crying out for hours of practice, not to mention rematches!!!

Hood #3: Had time to be sandwiched on the couch…

Hood #4: Continues to be the play champion of the world.

Seriously this man can play…

Hood #5: Breezed through a million easy readers and onto chapter books without a blink…

And spent the week exploring Justin Bonello’s new cook book… page by page by page…

Hood #6: Is taking the salad days of summer very seriously!!!

And discovered she could bound up and down the backyard wall with the big guys. They grow too fast!!!

Hood #7: Well we had a fairy at play in our house the whole week… playing, playing, playing!!!

Hood #8: Discovered blueberries…

And that he could dress like the pirates he loves to play with!!!

That’s us… Hope you have a great weekend!!!
Can you give a list on some easy readers that are good to have “lying ” around? Do you buy them or get them from the library?
Hi Tammy, Good to hear from you … there are a ton of easy readers in the Sonlight “Reading with Easy Readers” Curriculum, he is reading one of them in the photograph. Also at the library… and yes I am going to give you directions… in the long shelf down the middle of the kids section separating the tables on the one side and junior non-fiction in the other… the side next to the tables have heaps of classics and we always take a couple of those out… but on the side facing the junior non-fiction books there are literally tons of series of easy readers and my beginner readers work their way though it… some are super easy, ranging up to quite tricky… They seem to need a lot of practice at this stage and then it just clicks. Hope you find them!!! Have a good week – enjoy the sunshine!!!
thanks so much, check your postbox tomorrow. xx
