Sunday Snippet: Theology for Kids? Meet Theo the Theologian… A GiveAway…

I am so impressed when I discover a resource that tackles topics that folk often think kids just won’t understand. I have a feeling that we totally underestimate our children and that they are actually ready and eager to learn lots of topics – if they were just placed in their path for them to discover. Take theology, not your common topic for youngsters!!! How often do you find that Christianity for children is a collection of watered down Bible stories, presented in a way that is mild if not not tepid… hardly about to ignite a life-long interest in learning more about God and His Kingdom!!! Well, have you met Theo the Theologian yet. We have only just discovered him and really he is quite a fun guy…

A series of DVD’s starring Theo, who is a cartoon character that presents a series of theological lessons to children… We have volume 1 and 2 of the series to GiveAway. Each dvd contains: four episodes of the series and a bonus snippet. They also contain printable lessons plans for teachers to use with their class… coloring pages and printable pages and heaps of useful ideas for sharing the material with your young students. Not only that but there is a great website where you can print downloads and look at the free lesson plans.

Here’s a sample of what’s inside:

Volume 1: Foundations of Faith

Episode 1: Saving Faith – Learn About faith while studying about Abraham.
Episode 2: Loving Obedience – Follow the travels of Jonah while learning about obedience.
Episode 3: Forgiveness – Explore the Parable of the unforgiving servant.
Episode 4: Armor of God – Put on the whole armor of God with Paul.
Bonus Session – Good News! – Discover God’s plan of salvation through John 3:16 and the story of the Philippian jailer.

Volume 2: Foundations of Salvation

Episode 5: Redemption – Discover what the story of Onesimus teaches about being redeemed.
Episode 6: New Birth – Discover why Jesus told Nicodemus to be born again.
Episode 7: Justification – Explore how to be declared not guilty by God!
Episode 8: Adoption – Find out what it means to be adopted into God’s family.

The stories are engaging, Theo has two little rapscallion rodents that find themselves in a number of pickles… these little guys kept my little guys quite engaged!!! Theo is quite a serious chap and finds a reason to tell a bible story in each episode. I like that real bible stories are told, not watered down stories and no blessed little thoughts!!! The lesson plan ideas are fun with easily doable games and activities.
