World Book Day and a Community Library Delivered…

A huge thank you to all our readers for helping us to build another community library… We began this project on World Book Giving Day, we called for books and they slowly but surely started to pour in. And today we finally got to deliver them…

We asked our readers if their best book friend could help us to make a library? Turns out they could… and more books poured in… I love how folks all over the world, remembered their childhood favourites. Finally during library week, the cutest children from the library sent us pictures to show us the books that they wanted to read. More books poured in. In fact, around this time we lost our lounge to books… we had folks we know at the front gate, just dropping off a few books… books they had bought and books they wanted to share at all hours of the day and night. Book by book and box by box, the library began to grow.

Now that we had collected all the books together we had another problem… we never expected so many folks to deliver books to us. In the past the books have gone directly to the library… how on earth were we going to get all those books there. While I was still thinking about it, friends asked us if they could help… and they could!!! We loaded the books up and we were off to The Evergreen Resource Centre…

And into the library, with lots of shelves ready to be filled…

Then we filled their library with boxes…

And kids… All our helpers, who carried heaps of books…

And we were taken on a tour and shown the whole community centre. This is the one of the founders and the person in charge and what an amazing vision she has, talk about living your dreams… She had a dream to build a community centre…

Thank You

A huge thank you to all our readers around the world, who have supported us and shipped, ordered, mailed and delivered books… we really can’t thank you enough for the simply amazing effort that went into this project. We could not have done it without our readers and supporters and we just can’t thank you all enough. It is never too late and if you still want to join in and donate some books then pop over to this post, which has all the step by step instructions, on how to participate.

Thank you to the friends that took a day of school, life and everything else to help us deliver the books on the far side of the city…

And a special thank you to The Reader’s Warehouse for donating a whole heap of books to the project…

Se7en’s Library Project

This is the third year that we have managed to generate a library for a community with the help of our readers and hopefully we will be able to continue with this project in the future… bringing books to people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to books at all.

A Library for a Rural Village School in Lesotho.

A Library for a Township School in Stanford.

Thank you to Book Giving Day and World Book Day for motivating us…
