It was the second week in our mid-year break from school and let me just mention a small problem: Winter arrived and it has been bleak, colder than the Cold War… and it rained hard and long and steadily for six days straight… no breaks in the drumming down… and the warmest it got in the middle of the day was about 12Celcius (50 Fahrenheit).
And then the snots and the snivels and fevers arrived (help we are never ever sick!), so we snuggled down…
got some fresh books from the library…
and read and read and read…
Not to mention we ate garlic pita for lunch – everyday – its the quickest and no one was willing to lurch from under a duvet for any longer…
Then everyone stopped sleeping… and I mean STOPPED sleeping – maybe they all need some school – you know lack of mental stimulation might mean the brains are too restless at night… so we did some science stuff…
Hood #3 did some serious “arting” – snipping like frantic to get the blood flowing…
And Gadget Boy made himself a head torch – essential for under duvet reading…
And, actually a bunch of boys can only be constrained for so long so hood#1 built some swings…
and hood#6 had to… well a girl must swing…
And then hood#7 had a nap and in amazement we grabbed the camera…
And then I had an epiphany and took the blankets off the blanket shelf and actually put them on the beds, even though they look so nice on the shelf…
And everyone slept!!! and this morning the sun crept out and so did this caterpillar (which is going to change into a butterpillar according to hood #5!)
And then we discovered the cause of our troubles…
Snow on the surrounding mountains… aaaahhh!!! Hope you have a lovely warm weekend!
