So we had our Advent Calendar up on the 1st!!! Quite an achievement and everyone was well pleased with the effort!!! We have made elaborate Advent Calendars in the past… but really the simpler the better seems to work for us!!!
This is how in Se7en Steps:
- Use bright paper and markers.
- Draw and decorate some Christmas decorations.
- You should have 24 bright decorations ready for the next step.
- Once you are happy with your decorations then bring out the glitter glue.
- Leave your artwork out to dry…
- Once the glitter and glue have dried then cut out your shapes and tape a paperclip to the back of them…
- At this stage you could turn these into little pockets and add treats in them… but we just stuck ours onto plain paper… And cut them out.
- We numbered the back of the shapes, on the plain side… 1 through one through to 24.
And the Se7en + 1th Step…
And we were done…
The shapes are easy to string up because of the paperclips…
And we have a string of numbered decorations up…
Stretching across the kitchen…
Each day we get to turn one decoration around…
Day by day until Christmas…
Until all the decorations are facing outwards…
If you are looking for ideas to pack into your advent calendar then just follow this link… My kids know we will play a game a day and we have lots of pre-Christmas things to do… Now is the time for us to get our thinking caps on… get all our plotting and planning and secret projects sorted out…
