The Week That Was – 4.42

Well what can I say… It has been raining and raining… wetter than usual by far,

DSC_0596

Some of us are clinging on to Summer…

DSC_0017

But the nights are suddenly crisp…

DSC_0026

And the days are a little greyer…

DSC_0629

We blinked and the season has changed…

DSC_0609

And we have been munching on tree tomatoes – love!!!

DSC_0083

And suddenly lunch is under a tepid sun…

DSC_0034

Instead of the blazing heat…

DSC_0039

It stays darker in the mornings longer and that means sleeping just a little later!!!

DSC_0030

But our summer ended rather abruptly with a broken leg…

DSC_0704

Trips to the beach were thwarted, family hikes… stopped. Digging and grubbing in the garden came to a halt…

DSC_0179

It hasn’t been easy for any of us, least of all for him… In fact exhausting comes to mind!!!

DSC_0343

But we are in the home straight and by the time the cast is off we may well have forgotten that summer was cut-short… and distracting with one or two outings…

DSC_0454

That’s our mountain…
DSC_0357

And a trip to the diner…
DSC_0344

And we had a birthday…

DSC_0644

And of course a trip to the ice-cafe…

DSC_0407DSC_0399DSC_0390DSC_0387DSC_0384DSC_0392DSC_0382DSC_0379

And friends from Lesotho – yayay… And unbeknownst to them there should be a load of books waiting for them when they get home!!! They are expecting a couple of books, but nobody was expecting all the books that you guys sent them!!! I promise to blog about it as soon as we have some photographs…

DSC_0682

And chatting to friends back home…

DSC_0674

Otherwise fires and friends…

DSC_0581

And feasts and friends…
DSC_0588

Heaps of friends…
DSC_0593

And when a mother sneaks the toys away for the summer – my plan was to bring out just what they asked for and it would save us spending the entire summer tidying up for the end of the day!!! Turns out my kids did not miss their toys as all… They just generated fun elsewhere…

DSC_0138

And plenty of forts…
DSC_0087

And planning meetings…
DSC_0181

And paper dolls…
DSC_0692

And games…
DSC_0706

Pick-up-snakes…

DSC_0755

We have refined our selection to just our favorites and I really thought they would ask for them… but it was days and days of rainy weather that made them respond with a “good idea” when I suggested that we bring them out of hiding…

DSC_0688

Needless to say it had been fairly quiet as folks get back into the zoob groove…

DSC_0070

And royal zoobs…

DSC_0080DSC_0074DSC_0071

And duplo… don’t tell me kids can’t be organized!!!

DSC_0700

Because they so can…
DSC_0701

And engineering…

DSC_0158

DSC_0165

We have done heaps of arting…

DSC_0748

And my artwork of the last few weeks has to be this sweet self-portrait…

DSC_0721

We have been busy with the usual… books!!!

DSC_0733

And reading…
DSC_0591

And reading…
DSC_0364

And reading…

DSC_0290

And the book of the week deserves a little observation: I firmly believe that a reluctant reader just hasn’t found the book that sparks the fire… well while I have a house full of book lovers… I do have one character that loves books – but reading not so much!!! I found his book… and I need a bunch more just like it, seriously a heap of books that are so picture rich, interesting stories and yet an easy to read font… I know, who cares about the font – I tell you: “It really, really matters!!!”

And this is what the hoods got up to:

DSC_0583

Hood #7: Has taking to scientific organization… Don’t even ask if that whole jug of water will fit into the cup… just keep on pouring!!!

DSC_0162

Hood #8: Book, books, books…

DSC_0552

And that’s us…

Hope you have a fabulous week…
