The one thing we have been getting right this year is getting to the beach. We have our beach days scheduled and sorted…

And I have recently mentioned that this is the very best time of year for us to be heading for the beach… no wind, no stifling heat… it is cool, and quiet and perfect…

When we aren’t playing the best beach games then we are constructing and we take any kind of beach art really seriously…
Beach Art Tools
We have our regular kit for headed for the beach and usually that is enough equipment for all our beach creations… a bucket and spade are really the quintessential beach toys for a reason… a variety of shovels is essential and buckets needed to be just a little bit stronger than flimsy.

We usually spend some beach time gathering and collecting some useful natural tools for arting… feathers, drift wood, sea-shells, sea-weed, anything really. Except living creatures, we leave those where we find them.

And other tools we find really useful for beach art… skewers, forks, flips, and the all time best: the ice-cream scoop…

Se7en + 1 Quick and Easy Beach Creations
- Stick Drawing: We never go to the beach without leaving our mark on the lovely smooth surface that will be fresh and clean after the next tide.
- Sand Games: If you can play it on paper, then you can play it on the beach. Noughts and Crosses; Dots and Boxes; Hangman… I could go on!!!
- Frisbee Cakes: We love baking, real or sand – it really doesn’t matter…
- Vehicles: Is an age old, we have been building beach vehicles every week for about fifteen years – I kid you not!!! Planes, trains, cars and trucks… sand is very forgiving and artistic license is the name of the game.
- Classic Huge Castles: These are great, they require a team of workers… and there is so much to add and construct… moats, turrets, and endless natural finds are perfect for decorating…
- Drip Castles: Once your kids have for beyond rows of bucket castles, they will naturally progress to drip castles. You can make your mud in a bucket, but it is easier if you crate a deep hole close to the water’s edge. It will naturally fill with water and your artists will have an endless supply of mud.
- Cities: Never underestimate the power of an urban creation… maps and mapping brought to life!!! Don’t forget to include a parking lot filled with cars… and once your roads are set up you can literally sit and build buildings for hours!!!
- Holding Back the Tide: This is a life skill, you haven’t lived if you haven’t spent days of your childhood holding back the tide… A lot of preparation goes into these projects… plotting and planning!!!

And the Se7en + 1th…

That’s us… Hope your beach days are packed with fun!!!
