There has been a glitch, a glitch that I will call photography… Not for the first time I have ground my computer to a halt by filling it to the max with photographs… the max. It isn’t the first time and I am guessing it isn’t the last… I have spent the evening deleting five thousand photographs… five thousand… FIVE THOUSAND… it isn’t enough and I will have to spend the weekend deleting as well… not quite what I had planned!!! Anyway in lieu of a few days blogging I thought I would create a week that was post… because while our blog was resting we certainly weren’t!!!
The weather, as you can see from our tree is cold and wet, interspersed with glorious days, and a bright tepid sun. We are cold, most of the world would say “mild”… we are flimsy that way!!! The beach has been its perfect self… with misty mornings.
Crispy mornings…
And icy evenings…
Did I mention the snow…
Plenty of glorious sunsets…
And waiting for the rain to stop…
And loving every moment of sunshine…
The laundry has been enjoying the sunshine and watching for whales in the bay – we haven’t seen any yet…
But it is cold, and I think I need to plant a cocoa plantation in our yard…
Even cocoa with just my two littlies…
Car troubles of course… and we had to learn again that local is really where everything is at!!!
I have been home and had time to start sorting all the piles of papers that accumulate towards the and of the school year…
So many friends visiting…
Little friends…
And a friend came to visit us for the week… all the way from Lesotho…
We took her to see the city and a samurai, of course…
And the beach…
And Charly’s Bakery…
As one does…
And Gold Restaurant…
And a visit to a research vessel…
Otherwise… heaps of birthdays…
And someone I know has just discovered “going to parties” and my goodness, I think she might enjoy the whole idea!!!
Meanwhile it is the season for flowers…
And haircuts…
And someone has always loved the hairdryer… so would anyone if they believed it made them fly!!!
And end of term concerts…
And exam practice…
Tis the season to be arting…
And drawing every day…
And tons of projects…
Our Artwork of the week:
We have been reading…
And reading…
And reading…
And our Book of the Week: This book is about houses round the world, amazing and detailed collages, and packed with interesting snippets… I can see a lot of little projects will be inspired by this book…
Well we are reading this again… for the bazillionth time… and I know we will read it again and again!!!
And poetry, we love The Child’s Introduction to Poetry…
And this is what the Hoods have been up to:
Hood #1: These guys have been playing “rock, paper, scissors” forever…
Hood #2: Serenading with the saxaphone…
Hood #3: Watercolours with her littlest brother…
Hood #4: Building “not very water proof” dwellings…
Hood #5: Did I say… knife skills… as a chef must…
Hood #6: One of us knows how to dress for the weather…
Hood #7: And making endless pots of fairy tea…
Hood #8: Is planning a day of a day in the kitchen…
And that’s us… hope you have had the most fantastic week!!!
Oh wow – good to see a photo of you on your blog! And please tell us more about your Lesotho visitor – would love to read more about her visit.
I feel dizzy just reading about your week! Fun times.
Thank you for your time!
Kelly, It is just my pleasure – I love blogging so much… but choking my computer is never a good moment in time… Have a great weekend!!!
I really, really have to spend a day deleting photos off my computer too …. the thought is such a drag :/ … but the consequences will be *bad* if I don’t 🙂
Little House books … I never, ever, ever tire of them! The read-aloud times when we went through that whole series is probably the highlight of my homeschooling life …
Homeschool on the Croft… I am so thrilled to see you stop by and leave a comment!!! Made my day!!! Oh photography, shmotography… !!! I put it off and put it off and put it off… and then my computer gets slower and slower and stops… “Start up disk is full.” I have been so much more disciplined since the last time it happened (I just don’t learn!!!) – deleting all but essential pictures when I load them up. But that isn’t enough, what is essential this week is not essential next week… so a weekend of trailing through the archives it will be… delete, delete, delete. And yes… can one ever tire of Laura Ingalls… especially in the middle of Winter!!!
Hi Sue, Our visitor from Lesotho is the daughter of the pastor of the village we stayed in when we visited… she studied at the Bible College near our home a couple of years back and used to spend weekends visiting us. It was lovely to have her visit and hear all her news of home, not to mention what a sweet addition to our family – she fitted right in!!! Our family went from ten to eleven without a blink and we missed her deeply when she went home again. Thank you for asking and hope you have a lovely weekend!!!
