Is it just me or does the year seem to be flying by… weeks of rain and weeks of sun… it is good to know that the one sunshine follows the rain… and we have had some truly stunning sunshiny days…

Rain or shine the chores keep on coming…

But I have to say rows of jeans have been enjoying the sunshine almost as much as we have!!!

And local schools were on winter break, which means my kids had heaps of holiday activities… and early morning dawn patrols… And if anyone is asking, after a waking up in the dark and packing lunches… I am just so glad that we homeschool and we can linger a little longer, until at least the sunshine is above the mountain in the mornings…

With rain…there are rainbows…

With winter the surf is up…

And all my parenting life I have been so impressed by “schools in the wild…” you know articles with small children dashing around in rain gear and wellington boots… all weather schools. Who am I kidding, my kids are never indoors – the only difference is mine don’t have the equipment… but pot lids apparently will suffice!!!

Otherwise we have been hard at play…

Secrets between the first and the last…

Greens from the garden before the herd of snails we are cultivating… consumes the lot…

‘Tis the season of visitors from far off lands…

And face painting…

And let’s not forget the feathers…

A princess castle that just gets bigger and better every single day…

Early evenings mean… we are playing boardgames…

And when no one will join in then there is always a virtual opponent…

And puzzling…

Cold weather means that it is the season of beverages… tea parties

And coffee…

And cocoa…

Artwork of the Week: So much art is going on here!!!

How can we choose one artwork!!!

Tons of reading going on…

Never thought I would see the day when these two guys would be collapsed on the couch reading chapter books…

Our Book of the Week: this book is the number one bestseller, must be renewed from the library again and again and read and re-read numberous times… this little croc is on a mission… turns out he needs to do just a wee little bit of growing first!!!

And this is what the hoods have been up to:
Hood #1: Lego of course…

Hood #2: Is all about the Raspberry Pie… the cutest teeniest tiniest computer on earth…

Hood #3: Puzzling…

Hood #4: Gave up looking for a new blazer and found this handy dandy gadget to spend his birthday money… the kid is growing out of his spy suit… and local stores don’t sell school blazers anymore – tell me folks where do you buy a black blazer for a reasonable price in Cape Town… the search is on!!!

Hood #5: Is in charge of the mud kitchen…

Hood #6: Is raising snails… collecting snails, watching snails… loving snails… ’tis the season…

Hood #7: Is getting ready for school, writing pages and pages, line after line… of “alien…”

Hood #8: Discovered he can climb the back wall and parkour training has begun in earnest…
