Se7en’s Project A Day: Journaling…

I am a firm believer that our days should include a little writing, a little creating, a little fresh air and a heap of reading, in fact there are a number of habits that we would like to install in our daily lives. Often folks say that if you want to begin a new habit then you have to do it for twenty-one days and if you can keep up a habit for a month then it should be established and your new habit should slot into your routine with ease… And so began our “Project A Day” Adventure… So far we have done Se7en’s Drawing a Day Project… and Se7en’s Painting a Day Project…

Now I have always wanted to keep a journal with my kids and while they enjoy a little writing… we never last long at it, and it certainly isn’t a habit of ours… so over the next month we are going to be doing a little journaling everyday… Not so much writing as creating… Starting each day with a blank page and seeing what we can create on it… a lot of drawing, gathering, sticking, painting… and writing of course. The point is not so much to create a book, or to develop the discipline of writing pages and pages of words… but to make a record, a snapshot of time… when the shortest person won’t have more than a small drawing on the page and the oldest a whole array of words – and then everything in between!!!

The point is to intentionally take a little time everyday and create something, a memory sparked, an idea elaborated on… it isn’t for show and it isn’t a command performance. If some folk wander away from the table that is okay and it we can;t get to it every angle day… then that is okay too. The idea is to keep at it and see if we can spark the heart of a young journaled or two.

  2. Tuesday Travelings
  3. Wednesday Words
  4. Thursday Three Things
  5. Friday Families
  6. Saturday Scavenge
  7. Secret Sundays
