We haven’t had a Sunday Snippet book to GiveAway for quite a while, but I have a really fantastic one for you today: Grill a Christian by Roger Carswell. This is a little book absolutely packed with questions and answers, and a really good read.
In the introduction the author mentions that his work involves speaking to folk about Jesus, in many different parts of the world. He discovered a pattern, and people the world over were asking the same questions about Christianity. Different cultures, different economic situations… different people, all asking the same questions. So he put this book together and it is packed with questions that you hear all the time…

- What is God Like?
- Do you believe everything that is in the Bible?
- Isn’t the Bible full of contradictions?
- Isn’t Christianity just a crutch for the weak?
- Don’t all religions lead to God?
- Do you believe in reincarnation?
- Surely when you die that’s it?
- Can’t I just live a good life to be OK with God?
This book was intended for two groups of readers… those folk who have become Christians and want to understand more about their faith… and those who aren’t Christians but would like to be able to ask all these questions. The book is written very conversationally. The answers are mostly short, less than a double page spread, and straightforward to understand. This book is a great book to dip into and I have left it lying around for our older kids to pick up and have a quick read from time to time. Our kids are well churched and they know the “correct/formal answer” to most questions… but I want them to encounter the questions in a relational way… so that they have to stop and think about the answers and what they really mean to them, and to folk that ask these questions of them. This book doesn’t only provide answers to your won questions but gives great ideas for answering other folks’ questions. I can see so many uses for this book… a gift to a questioning friend, answering your own kids’ questions… it would make a good family Bible study… answer a question each week and talk about the topic together.
