Just an ordinary day… that began with everyone doing a bit of school and hanging the laundry while watching the ocean…
And the power going out for maintenance, as it does.
And a puff of clouds above house.
But when the Cape Fire Helicopters arrived we knew there was a bigger problem…
And it quickly became apparent that that puff of clouds was anything but a puff of clouds…
And we have spent the rest of the day watching the blaze…
The choppers arrived in full force…
Around and around…
Again and again…
And around some more…
Drips and drops right over our heads…
Then the spotter plane arrived…
It spent the entire day circling… in and out of the smoke…
And it got fairly hectic…
And we watched our mountainside become engulfed…
Really we salute these guys, they are still battling it out…
And it is going to be a long night too…
It has been a day of sirens and choppers, smoke and noise…

What a sight. Hope it doesn’t come any closer. Will be thinking of you all.
Wow that is close. We hope you and yours are keeping safe. My thoughts are with you this night.
Hi Cheryl, That was quite an experience… today we just have heaps of choppers overhead. The noise is deafening, but so grateful to have these brave guys watching the smoulder and ready to jump to the rescue should they need too. Hope you have a great day!!!
Hi Stephanie, We are all quite safe, woken at dawn by the choppers returning to conquer the fire – they did. It felt like an army invasion, but there are just wisps of smouldering smoke left behind, so it is all good. thank you so much for stopping by.
