I haven’t blogged about homeschooling for ages, I guess when you are in the thick of it, and you forget that your life experience is not everyone else’s. I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed homeschooling my high schoolers. But recently I was asked: What happens to homeschoolers after high school? That is a good question. And like all homeschool questions, it can seem like a massive hurdle, until you find someone else who has walked this road before you. With five of our eight kids finished with high school, I have walked that road a couple of times and I am happy to share our journey.
One small question: What happens to homeschool kids after school? quickly leads to several others. Can homeschooled children write matric? Can homeschooled children go to University? Can homeschooled children get a job? I am guessing all parents are ultimately preparing their children for the “big-bad-world,” and homeschooling parents want their kids to succeed in life just as all parents do. I was invited to be on Thanda Xaba’s homeschool podcast…
Questions from Thanda Xaba
- Have you ever wondered if homeschooled children can go to University? I have.
- Have you ever wondered what are the requirements for homeschooled children to go to University? I have.
- Have you ever wondered how homeschoolers can prepare for University/ tertiary level education? I have.
- Have you ever wondered how homeschooling high school can be? I have.
On this episode all those questions and more are answered.
I really enjoyed meeting with Thanda, and my goodness she discovered something about me, this is a topic close to my heart and I am very happy to talk about abything to do with homeschooling for hours on end. Hopefully all her questions were answered… and if you would like to take a look back at previous homeschooling posts, then you can find them all here.
