In the olden days, that would be October… when our Celebrity Chef had a birthday… His hearts desire was that his friend Peter the Pastry Chef or James could come round and make chocolate cake with him.
Unfortunately they were both busy on the day and we settled down and made Chocolate fudge cake together… Well this past weekend we made up for lost time and spent the whole of Saturday chocolateering with his chef friend Peter.
Now this is not my usual organized post – but creative chefs were at work… here is what you are aiming for:
Let’s Meet The Players:
- 230 g (8.11 ounces) butter
- 230 g (8.11 ounces) chocolate
- 600 g (21.16 ounces) Golden Brown Sugar
- 2 teaspoons of Vanilla Sugar
- A Pinch of Salt
- 4 eggs
- 230 g (8.11 ounces) cake flour
- 4 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 200g (7.05 ounces) Chocolate chips
Let’s Play The Game:
Step 1: Start by greasing your cake pans.
Sprinkle some brown sugar and a layer of cocoa into the pie dish:
Shake the pan around and your pie pan is ready.
Put it on the side until you need it.
Step 2: Measure your chocolate and your butter.
Melt them together:
Step 3: Measure your sugar, Vanilla sugar and a Pinch of Salt into a bowl.
Step 4: Pop your eggs into your mixing bowl.
Add your sugar to the eggs.
Beat until they are fluffy and light.
Step 5: Give your melted chocolate and butter a final stir…
Add your melted chocolate to the mixture and beat together.
Step 6: Measure your flour and cocoa.
Mix them together.
Add to your chocolate and sugar mixture bit by bit…
Step 7: Pop your mixture into the waiting baking pans.
Tackle the bowl.
Sprinkle the top of your cake with chocolate chips – be generous!!!
You could be done, but our chefs decided to top the cake with canned peaches and you could probably top it with any canned fruit or keep it pure chocolate, whatever takes your fancy…
Pop it into a low heat oven (180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) or 350 Fahrenheit) for about 35 – 40 minutes. (If you stick a sharp knife into it should come out clean).
And you are done…
You can top this cake with A Chocolate Fudge Sauce, but we never got round to that in the heat of the day – we moved on to higher things… truffles… in the next post!!!
But here is the fudge sauce if you need to make it:
Let’s Meet The Players:
- 60 g (2.12 ounces) butter
- 230 g (8.11 ounces) sugar
- 150 ml (5.07 fluid ounces) milk
- 250 ml (8.45 fluid ounces) cream
- 150 ml (5.07 fluid ounces) Golden Syrup
- 200 g (7.05 ounces) plain chocolate
Let’s Play the Game:
Heat all the ingredients, except the chocolate, in a heavy pot.
Boil until it is golden colored, for about 10 minutes – stirring all the time. Take it off the heat and add the chocolate. Stir the chocolate through and it will melt, hmmmm! Pour over your cake and now you are really done!!!
That’s it – Bon Appetito!!!
