Saturday Spot: The Two Oceans Aquarium Ocean Explorer…

It has been a cold rainy Saturday, but just yesterday we were swimming in the heat… and a couple of days ago we were off on an Ocean Adventure, quite literally!!!

Recently a couple of my kids attended another one of the brilliant holiday courses at the aquarium… and on the final day they got to go on a tour of the ocean…

Life Jackets on… and just in case you are asking – each life-jacket has the name of the vessel: “Ocean Adventurer” written on it and my kids thought that was life-defining and quite the best thing ever!!!

Talk about hands on learning. And we were all able to go and join the fun…

DSC_0473

So under the umbrella of our mountain…

DSC_0227

For about one moment we were all sitting…

DSC_0226

And we were off…

DSC_0229

Under bridges…

DSC_0233

And past the Coke crate man…

DSC_0236

And a boats-eye view of the Waterfront…

DSC_0243

More Bridges and the Clock-Tower…

DSC_0244

And the carousel…

DSC_0249

And of course there were ships and shipping…

And then look what we went past…

DSC_0268

Just look…

DSC_0408DSC_0406DSC_0275

That’s the ship I used to work on and sailed the Southern Ocean on… Marion Island, Antarctica…

All the way being educated!!! About up-welling and food chains and all sorts of living things in our oceans.

DSC_0295

And out onto the open water…

DSC_0277

Past the dolos…
DSC_0302

And the stadium…
DSC_0296

And the Famous Robben Island…

DSC_0360

And of course their was bird life…

DSC_0303

And the Noon Day Gun!!! Do you see the puff of smoke on Signal Hill?

DSC_0304

And other flying beasts…
DSC_0308

And no-one was sitting for very long…

DSC_0332

Because… there was wildlife… Kelp Forests…

DSC_0373

And dolphins!!!

DSC_0334

Right next to the hustle and bustle of the city…

DSC_0352DSC_0353

Under the watchful eye of Table Mountain…

DSC_0348

There was interesting driving…

DSC_0355DSC_0358

Though I am kind of relieved one person wasn’t lurching around!!!

DSC_0396

He was very proud of his life-jacket…

DSC_0368

And watching the sea go by…

DSC_0365

And then we went back again…

DSC_0376

Home again…

DSC_0381

And I loved these guys…

DSC_0390

Really… standing to attention…
DSC_0393

And back through the waterways…
DSC_0433

DSC_0444

Back past the Coke Crate Man…
DSC_0451

And the tide was in so we had to wait for the bridge to raise!!!
DSC_0454

Past the sleeping seals…
DSC_0462

And stepping back…

  1. What an exciting outing. Wonderful photographs. It is good to see ‘Long John Silver’ on board and enjoying his boat trip.

  2. Hay Granny Ant, It was such a fun time!!! And yes the our favorite pirate loved it!!! Hope you have a great week…

  3. Hay Cheryl!!! How are you doing!!! Yup the Coke Crate Man has indeed become a local landmark!!! Can’t wait for you to be so desperate for clear blue skies that you have to visit us!!! I’d suggest a house swap – we could do museums and you could do open skies, but then we wouldn’t get to play and chatter, being on opposite ends of the earth as usual… so what exactly would be the point of that!!! Hope you have a great week…

  4. Oh Zubeida, You are so kind!!! I have never ever called myself a photographer!!! Just a snapper in training!!! It was a wonderful outing and well worth it!!! Hope you have a great week with your kids!!!

  5. Yeah Lynne!!! What a small world it is!!! Isn’t that incredible how lives overlap!!! Thanks so much for the radio interview yesterday… it was fun!!! Have a good day!!!
