It has been a cold rainy Saturday, but just yesterday we were swimming in the heat… and a couple of days ago we were off on an Ocean Adventure, quite literally!!!
Recently a couple of my kids attended another one of the brilliant holiday courses at the aquarium… and on the final day they got to go on a tour of the ocean…
Life Jackets on… and just in case you are asking – each life-jacket has the name of the vessel: “Ocean Adventurer” written on it and my kids thought that was life-defining and quite the best thing ever!!!
Talk about hands on learning. And we were all able to go and join the fun…
So under the umbrella of our mountain…
For about one moment we were all sitting…
And we were off…
Under bridges…
And past the Coke crate man…
And a boats-eye view of the Waterfront…
More Bridges and the Clock-Tower…
And the carousel…
And of course there were ships and shipping…
And then look what we went past…
Just look…
That’s the ship I used to work on and sailed the Southern Ocean on… Marion Island, Antarctica…
All the way being educated!!! About up-welling and food chains and all sorts of living things in our oceans.
And out onto the open water…
Past the dolos…
And the stadium…
And the Famous Robben Island…
And of course their was bird life…
And the Noon Day Gun!!! Do you see the puff of smoke on Signal Hill?
And other flying beasts…
And no-one was sitting for very long…
Because… there was wildlife… Kelp Forests…
And dolphins!!!
Right next to the hustle and bustle of the city…
Under the watchful eye of Table Mountain…
There was interesting driving…
Though I am kind of relieved one person wasn’t lurching around!!!
He was very proud of his life-jacket…
And watching the sea go by…
And then we went back again…
Home again…
And I loved these guys…
Really… standing to attention…
And back through the waterways…
Back past the Coke Crate Man…
And the tide was in so we had to wait for the bridge to raise!!!
Past the sleeping seals…
And stepping back…
Onto dry land…
Thanks team, we had a fabulous time…
If you are looking for a trip on the Ocean Adventurer you can catch all the details here… on the Two Oceans Aquarium website.
What an exciting outing. Wonderful photographs. It is good to see ‘Long John Silver’ on board and enjoying his boat trip.
Hay Granny Ant, It was such a fun time!!! And yes the our favorite pirate loved it!!! Hope you have a great week…
Fabulous trip. I’m glad you gave us a guided tour. I had to smile at the Coke Crate Man. So cool!
Hay Cheryl!!! How are you doing!!! Yup the Coke Crate Man has indeed become a local landmark!!! Can’t wait for you to be so desperate for clear blue skies that you have to visit us!!! I’d suggest a house swap – we could do museums and you could do open skies, but then we wouldn’t get to play and chatter, being on opposite ends of the earth as usual… so what exactly would be the point of that!!! Hope you have a great week…
Absolutely beautiful pictures…You are such a talented photographer!!
Oh Zubeida, You are so kind!!! I have never ever called myself a photographer!!! Just a snapper in training!!! It was a wonderful outing and well worth it!!! Hope you have a great week with your kids!!!
yes, Se7en… that’s my son! the captain with the glasses on his head in your last pic. What fun to find him on your blog!
Yeah Lynne!!! What a small world it is!!! Isn’t that incredible how lives overlap!!! Thanks so much for the radio interview yesterday… it was fun!!! Have a good day!!!
