  9. This week was the week to sort out the last bits and pieces in our garage – a tidy up before we enter the home stretch… It was a bit of a tackle of all the boxes of goodies on the shelves… I know a heap of eclectic boxes isn’t the most attractive storage but it does work and it cost me nothing.

With a bunch of boys always ready to “help in the garage” it is quite easy for things to migrate from their intended box to any box. Each box is labeled and contains vitally important stuff: remember this is a household with six guys in it: strings, wire, other strings, plugs, more strings, tools and then just a couple of boxes of ho-hum string. I did enlist help here, I didn’t just go blindly through box after box tossing pieces of “useful” pieces of string. I was respectful. I was understanding. And that wall does look pretty much the same as when we started, except now the boxes actually have the items in them that they say they should on the labels.

Otherwise I made an error in my plan and I will have to address it this week!!! Initially this was a wall of boxes… to the ceiling boxes and we got rid of them and reduced them to just those few boxes under the desk… With the whole wall cleared I thought it looked a bit bare and wouldn’t it be nice to have a long surface for projects… Last week we got rid of the boxes to the recycling and this desk has been up exactly a week… Can you see what happened? It isn’t a work surface at all – it is a drop zone!!! Not my intention at all!!! And the work surface will have to go. But I do have a plan for that wall…

Our last project for our garage clean out challenge is do build a wrack for this pile of vehicles… and I know that while the rest of the garage has been surprisingly quick to clean out… this will take us a little longer and we can’t really leave it to the last day… So this is the week to actually make a bike rack. Wish me luck, we have never done a project like this before!!!

That’s us – Hope you are having a fun weekend!!!

  1. Good job recognizing that your work surface turned into a drop zone and took steps to fix it. I have sometimes let things pile up for so long before recognizing my mistake & then it’s a huge job to find proper places for those items. Good luck with the bike rack!

  2. Hay Julie, You are welcome!!! I know a fabulous post when I see it!!! Really enjoyed roaming around your site!!! Have a great week!!!

  3. Oh Hilda, I was so excited to think of all the projects that could happen on that surface… until I realized that EVERY thing was landing there… So we will have to figure that kurt this week!!! All the best with finishing up – hope you have a fabulous week!!!

  4. It’s looking great! Can’t wait to see the bike rack.

Our back yard/soon-to-be garden is also the next major project. It’s onto the weed clutter and soil prep. Maybe we’ll have a winter garden at this rate. : )

  5. Hi Angie, Good for you on keeping at it, despite all your trials!!! I am dying to get into the garden… before winter actually settles and we freeze over… but I am determined to finish the garage first. As for the bike rack… well there is a lot of plotting and planning, but precious little action … it is still only Monday!!! Hope you have a good and productive week!!!

  6. I’m visiting from Orgjunkie! Your space is looking great! I’ll be interested to see what you come up with for bike storage…I’m running into the same problem!

  7. THANK YOU for your organizational inspiration and your link inspiration!!!! 🙂

  8. Thanks Nicole… It hasn’t been quite as bad as I thought it would be, though I have to say that it is pouring with rain here and no-one is venturing down to the garage!!! At this stage I will be interested to see how we resolve the bike problem too!!! All the best with you garage… have a good week!!!

  9. Thank you Katherine-Marie… For always stopping by and commenting, I love it!!! Have a fabulous day!!!
