There is a lot to be said for being a tourist in your own town. Recently CitySightSeeing Cape Town offered us a pair tickets to try out a night-tours on their fun red-top-buses!!! But Summer just never got here… not to mention we would need a sitter for se7en + 1 kids!!! Well Saturday night, everything fell into place… the night before full moon was perfect and still and we set off on a tour of the far side of the city from home. One thing you do notice and see all over the city centre is City Sightseeing Buses and our kids are dying to take a tour!!! So the father person and I went off to give the tour a try!!!

As you arrive at the ticket office you are given a pair of earphones with your ticket so that you listen to the on-line tour as you go… and it is quite fun to watch all the heads on the bus – “Look to the right and see…” and “Now, on your left…” It is a great tour, lots of factoids and a great way to find out about your city. If you are visiting Cape Town or have always lived here, like us… there was lots to learn – little bits history, and who’s who… a good way to get an overview of the city. I will definitely take my kids on a tour sometime in the future, to get a good overall picture of the city.
The tour begins at their ticket office, just outside the aquarium and you do a quick drive out of the waterfront past The Time-Ball Clock Tower…

And Cape Town’s mini-eye…

On through Moullie Point,

Into Sea Point,

A part of Cape Town known for high-rise apartments…

And a cosmopolitan life-style.

On towards Bantry Bay…

The places where the rich and famous have holiday homes…

And you are going to see a lot of our mountain…

And the twelve Apostles on one side…

Famous Clifton Beaches #1, #2, #3 and #4…

And Camps Bay…

A beach with style…

The Place to see…

And be seen…

And a view of the cable car…

Then we cruised up Lion’s Head…

Along the highways and byways…

Passing friendly buses going the other way…

Up Signal hill… And our first sightings of Table Mountain…

And the City Bowl…

And Cape Town harbour…

On up the mountain…

And past the Kramat…

To the top of Signal Hill…

Where our fabulous hosts let us out to enjoy the spectacular sunset…

Well, to enjoy the stunning views first…

And admire our beautiful mountain…

Who knew how many folk wanted to watch the sunset and the full moon emerge!!!

Tons of people!!!

And there is a good reason… that sunset…

And back on the bus…

And then the dark crept in…

And some folk might have missed the sunset!!!

Back on the road…

Above the lights…

And down into the city centre…

Past eateries…

And outeries!!!

And city life…

And city sights…

And even a spot of movie making…

And I couldn’t resist wondering what a whole apartment block was up to on a Saturday night!!!

And from the top of the bus you see lots of things you might not normally see…
A Ferrari!!!

And a car load of mimes!!!

And then back to the Waterfront…

And we were done!!!

Thank-you City Sight Seeing Cape Town for the ride… we will definitely be visiting you again!!!
We were given complimentary tickets to travel on the CitySightSeeing Night Tour, for the purpose of this review. We were not paid to write this review and our opinions are entirely our own.
