I told you we would have two weeks of book GiveAways on our blog and we have made it!!! We have been reading and reading… Last week we wrote a post on Brilliant Barefoot Books we had been enjoying. This week we wanted to show you the board books we had been looking at… Now board books are not the boring books they used to be… board books have become fantastic books and I have to say I often buy our family favorite picture books in the board book version even if a paper book version exists… simply because they do outlast. Anyway we have a couple of Barefoot Board Books we have been loving!!!
Reading… and re-reading…
Well these books bring collage art to the fore and you can almost feel the fabric as you run your hands over the stitching they are delightful… teeny tiny stitched details. And the stories rhyme… so easy to read, easy to listen to (again and again) and engaging for little ears. These books totally inspired us to do something crafty… We have made Safari animals before and Beastly Bushveld Bunting so we decided to make some fabric farm animals.
We began with drawing…

Followed by tipping out the fabric scrap box… and decisions…
Followed by lots of glueing and sticking…
And a huge session of snipping…
And some tweaks with markers and we were done:
What I love about paper and fabric and paper glue is that they make nice stiff card toy when they are done… and I see someone had them outdoors to play in the sun…
