Se7en Celebrities: Lori from Camp Creek Blog…

It is a tradition during the month of our Blogaversary to ask a couple of our favorite bloggers for a list of Se7en + 1 “anythings…” Things they love or things they loathe!!! Best books, best blogs, things you love about blogging, best outings, best ice-cream flavors, places to visit, best foods, fun traditions, habits, kid stuff you still enjoy, summer fun, winter fun, even se7en +1 favorite words – whatever they like…

Meet Lori of Camp Creek Blog, a wonderfully thoughtful teacher who educates with a difference. She just wrote a fabulous book… I am dying to read it, I know it is going to be one of those books that makes you stop and think about how and why we teach our kids the way we do…

Se7en + 1 of my favourite quotes about learning:

  1. The creative impulse, like love, can be killed, but it cannot be taught. What a teacher or librarian or parent can do, in working with children, is to give the flame enough oxygen so that it can burn. As far as I?m concerned, this providing of oxygen is one of the noblest of all vocations. Madeleine L’Engle
  2. There is only one thing ? to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you. T.H. White
  3. Some days you must learn a great deal. But you should also have days when you allow what is already in you to swell up and touch everything. If you never let that happen, then you just accumulate facts, and they begin to rattle around inside of you. E.L. Konigsburg
  4. Good judgment comes from experience, and experience ? well, that comes from poor judgment. A.A. Milne
  5. Nearly every man who develops an idea works at it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then gets discouraged. That?s not the place to become discouraged. Thomas Edison
  6. It is necessary for us to learn from others’ mistakes. You will not live long enough to make them all yourself. Hyman Rickover
  7. The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity. Dorothy Parker
  8. And the Se7en + 1th…

  9. There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning. Louis L’Amour
