It has been a while since a Week That Was Post… before the season changes here’s a post showing you what we have been up too lately!!!

I know there have been a few more rainy days than usual…

Not to mention chores in the rain – yes, these are my mid hats!!!

And chores in general…

But there have been plenty of glorious days too…

And the mornings are just a little bit chilly – but I am in denial and still calling it summer… and to this end we have been beaching…

Seriously embracing everything be achy and making the most of living in a seaside town…

And racing…

And building…

And taking on the ocean…

And nobody trusts the new shark nets… and for good reason… they aren’t actually hanging down to the ocean floor – but cable tied up on the surface – who knows why… but for once I was relieved for super curious kids…

So heaps of swimming at home…

And leaping…

And splashing…

We have done masses of school and…

Despite more than a few abandoned days – due to fabulous weather… the half way mark through our school year passed by unnoticed!!!

Science experiments never seem to stop…

And a daily walk just to make sure that certain folk are tired out by the end of the day!!!

And playing, oh my goodness it has been the season of toys… my kids go for months without playing with toys, they just don’t need them and then there is the reverse and their imaginations have been creating new and wild worlds…

Every kind of toy…

Especially outdoors…

But LEGO remains king…

We have watched thousands of cyclists take to the road…

Thousands and thousands of them…

And endless runners…

Were serenaded…

There has been ice-cream of the spectacular kind:

Ice-creams all around…

We’ve been feasting…

And planting…

And haircuts…

For Se7en + 1…

And after saving a present all the way from Canada… we finally had to eat our chocolate beach stones…

And in case you think my kids are angels… here is the very friendly electrician who was called out over a long weekend to try and repair some mischief… of the electronic variety… what can I say – 5 boys!!!

Heaps of arting…

And crafting…

And days spent playing “old fashioned pinterest” with a glue stick and magazines… snip snip stick stick…

Our artwork of the week has to be…

These funny looking folk…

And tons of reading…

And a friend from the far side of the world to read stories…

Books galore…

And our book of the week has to be this delightful story…

And this is what the Hoods have been up too:
Hood #1: Has taken up photography…

Hood #2: Is building a radio…

Hood #3: Conquered map work…

Hood #4: Is building bows…

Hood #5: Has taken on the title “Head gardener…”

Hood #6: And little miss natural factual has been exploring the whole wide world…

Hood #7: Has been puzzling…

Hood #8: Well this is our beach boy…

Just loving the sea…

And the sand…

That’s us… hope you all have the most fabulous week!!!
Love the bee and ladybird, they are super cute!
Julia Ddonaldson a favourite for all ages in our family! 😀 😀 😀
Thank you Kirsty… I will tell the little artist!!!
We are too Noraszekely, I don’t know how we missed this one before!!!
I always love your “week that was” posts! May I ask about the map hood #3 is working on. Is that a sonlight map? I think my #3 would love that map.
Thanks!
Dana
Such super photos and such a super week of FUN FUN FUN! Thanks for sharing your week with us 🙂
Hi Dana, I have to say I love writing these posts and I really want to get back to them… I have wandered off a bit, but they are the reason I started blogging!!! That map is indeed from Sonlight… It comes with the geography songs workbook, and if you go on the website then you can actually buy the geography song maps separately, I find it better for my kids to have a map they can write o, colour, and build-upon during the year… the wipe off maps are clumsy and they wipe their work off when the write fresh facts on them… so paper maps just work better for us!!! So good to hear from you again and have a great week!!!
Love and Lollipops!!! So good to have you stop by and say hi!!! I hope you have enjoyed all the holidays recently and had a good break!!! Wishing you a fabulous week!!!
What a fabulous week! Thanks for sharing it with us. I was just telling my little ones in my class about the shark nets in SA. I’ll have to show them your picture. Thanks again 🙂
Endless awesomeness!!!!!! I love all the pictures! How many pictures do you take in a week?!
Hi Jenn, Thanks so much for stopping by!!! I have to say these nets are part of a new experiment in our area, a pilot study. They do have shark nets in Natal and Durban that have worked for years and years… but I think they have to do a bit more experimenting on our beach before they become viable!!! And shark nets aside, hope you have a great week!!!
Oh Katherine Marie… You know my weakness… dozens and dozens of photographs!!! Delete is my best friend!!! Thanks for stopping by and always having something lovely to say – I hope you all have a great week!!!
Thank you se7en for the map info. We have been absent and did not get to participate in the last book donation due to many medical problems for my youngest! Have been absent from the blogs for awhile while we just cope with life. So glad your family looks well. Thanks again!
Dana
No problem Dana, I hope your little guy is on the mend. It sounds like you have had a really tough time… wishing you all the best and lots of love from the whole gang.
I can’t believe all of that was in one week, looks fun but I like the one photo of the boy crashed out, that’s how I would feel 🙂
Oh Angel, That is funny… what can I say – eight kids sure do keep you on your toes!!! Hope you have a fabulous week!!!
