I have had a plan to visit the Waterfront for the longest time, I have an outing in mind that I know my children will love… so after a week of indoors we headed out on Friday to clear the cobwebs from our heads. Off we went and our outing is going to have to be a whole ‘nother post… because we got totally distracted by the Clipper Round the World Race…

Everyone wanted to dash down to get a close up look about… but things take a little longer right now, because someone is a little obsessed with tracing every letter on every word that we wander past, what is that about!!!

All the boats are leaving today for Australia…

But on Friday we were able to take a breezy look around…

We thought we would get a walk down the quay…

We were dying to take a peak at life onboard…

Shopping and stocking up for the next leg of the race was in full swing… it looks pretty much like a regular month of shopping!!!

So was maintenance and sprucing up…

And then my crew of landlubbers were invited onboard… and a tour of the OneDLL…

Past the pirate…

Many questions asked and answered…

And an extremely patient tour guide…

Learning the ropes, just can’t happen on a quick tour…

And below decks…

The storage…

The bunks…

The galley…

Health and Safety…

And so on…

Not to mention the secret Pringle Stash…

They loved it all…

And now we have a gang of OneDLL fans… following them closely as they leave Cape Town and get on with the race… If you want to see the stunning race photographs and read about life at sea then head straight over there. I have one child visit me late at night, bags packed, and ask if they may sign up and join the race… “um no, you need to be just a tad older!!!” But you can be sure we will be having a whole lot of fun following the race as they power their way on, through the Southern Ocean and around the world !!!

Hi Se7en,
I will be looking out for it! Loved the photos and the boat tour. It would be so exciting to actually sail away with them…
Annabel Candy, Wouldn’t it be fun, I can so see you doing this. I love their whole ethos of taking “ordinary people” and doing something so extraordinary!!! I would so love to get on and sale away for a year – what an adventure!!! Hope you have a great week!!!
How nice to have a tour! I was going to say we’ll look out for them but they are going to Albany, the other side of Australia from us!
Oh Jacqui, Definitely the wrong side of Australia, but a seriously fun adventure!!! Hope you are having a great week on the far side of the world!!!
