It is World Ranger Day… and we haven’t posted one of our Green Living Interviews for a while. Here’s an interview with a ranger friend of ours, who years ago inspired us to explore a little bit further than our garden gate and head out into our local Nature Reserve and explore it thoroughly. Our kids have learnt so much about our local wildlife and environment… just by immersing themselves in nature alongside someone who can answer all their questions.
Introducing Christa, who is an environmental educator… she runs a programme for Cape Town Rangers, Mini-Rangers and has an environmental education programme for homeschoolers in the Western Cape.
Three Green Living Questions
1. What one thing do you do in your home that you feel makes a difference to the environment? We have a no-wastage rule – electricity, water, food and time.
2. If you could tell your community one thing to change what would it be? Guard against consumerism.
3. If you had an opportunity to speak to world leaders what policy would you ask them to implement? I would want them to write a new policy on the need for children to spend time in natural areas during school time.
