My First Frozen Adventure
Riann Manser has done it again… if you haven’t read his previous adventure books then you need to get hold of them.
- My First African Adventure: His bicycle ride around Africa, and a country by country adventure… Learning amazing facts and reading about the wildest adventures as he cycled all the way around.
- My first Wild Island Adventure: He paddles around Madagascar in a Kayak.
Riaan Manser is a South African adventurer, who writes about his fabulous adventures, in books for kids (and their adults!). While the books are about his adventures, they are also packed with fabulous facts. They are perfect books for chapter a night reading, or for homeschooling and family reading time.
In The first Frozen Adventure he kayaks around Iceland, with his friend, Dan Skinstad, who had no experience of kayaking and suffers from Cerebral Palsy, which affects his balance and muscle control. So a tricky adventure, with lots of challenges, in a particularly wild and freezing environment.
5000km around Iceland is rough and tough and requires bravery beyond bravery… the book is split into double spread chapters… so perfect for bedtime reading. Every spread is another exciting instalment and they really are exciting. From treacherous waves to clambering over crevasses… not to mention the aurora lights. I love the special inserts on the animals of Iceland not to mention the food facts and I love the special page of Survival Tips.
A wonderful feature of this book is that there is a QR-Code that links to the audio version of the book… making it a thoroughly accessible book for kids of all reading abilities. So many great features in this book, it is extremely giftable. This is a fantastic read, and I really enjoyed it and especially all the Antarctic animal love.
