I know Sunday has passed… but let’s just say life is busy!!! Here is This weeks fabulous GiveAway and it’s another great book brought to you by:

6F84A2B2-1701-4283-B4B5-6F4807494B6C.jpg

I have given away books in this series before… and here you go Kings, Pharaohs and Bandits: The World of Abraham to Esther (Footsteps of the Past).

Kings, Pharaohs and Bandits.jpg

Another great Day One book that takes a stroll through the Egyptian collection at the British Museum. We took a wander ourselves one rainy afternoon through the British Museum a couple of years back and what a great spot it turned out to be!!! Their website is packed with resources you can do a couple of online tours and have a look at specific objects online and they have a brilliant spot for young explorers.

Back to the book it is full of great projects and crafts and factoids and links to the museum site. Pages on the Rosetta Stone and Mummies to name a few. Here is a preview of some of their crafts: An inlaid model and an Assyrian Siege Engine.

In honor of this great GiveAway I challenged my kids to find se7en Activities relating to Ancient Egypt in 30 minutes, it quickly became an hour!!! So here are se7en crafty ideas with love from the gang at se7en:

  4. An Ancient Egyptian scene, we printed out people from KingTutOne.com and with a cut and a snip, and a bit of gluestick… Ancient Egypt came alive…

  6. A scroll of hyroglyphics:
  7. DSC_0589

  8. Some handy beasts: Crocodiles and a hippopotamus.

  12. A Bark Boat: Floating down the Nile of course!!!
  13. And for the se7en + 1th thing: DSC_0745

  14. A Pyramid Cake: And no guesses who whipped this up!!! I tell you what, if you know which Hood came up with the cake then… I will give you two chances in the GiveAway Draw!!!

If you would like to win this fabulous book then go ahead and enter our GiveAway. The GiveAway works in the usual way, comment before the end of this coming Saturday, 21 August 2010, and we will draw and publish the winner next week on Monday! – I won’t respond to your comments as I do on our other posts because I don’t want to be included in our own giveaway.

This one is a goodie for the shelf, I just love books that the children can discover another culture, another time period, another way of living.

I would love this book! I am going to go out on a limb and guess that, instead of the Celebrity Chef, it was his slightly older brother, Hood #4.

  • 21 Katherine // Aug 23, 2010 at 8:05 am

Got it wrong. Hood No.5 Not 6 as I said before. Where did my brain go?
