Saturday Spot: St James Beach…

Winter time is the best time to go beaching in Cape Town, seriously the crowds evaporate and in between the rainy days you do get glorious sunny ones!!! Here is a little local beach that is lovely and we only visit it in the winter and inevitably we have it all to ourselves!!! This beach is world famous for its rows of pretty beach huts…

I know I love saying… this is winter… and frankly when the days look like this it would be criminal to sit indoors and do bookwork!!!

  1. Hay Mika… One sunny day and we sure made use of it!!! This beach swarms with people in the summer time… it is right next to a station so perfect for transport and has a tidal pool so safe for swimming (hmmm not so many sharks in the pool me thinks!!!). So very popular… But in winter it is perfect and empty and peaceful and lovely!!! AND yes those colorful houses are stunning and adorn many Cape Town postcards!!! So glad you signed up – who knew it was that easy!!! Have a good week and get better soon!!!

  2. I really can’t get over your beaches! Their treasures are so different from our own in this part of the world. Fascinating!

P.S. Even the need for a “no pushing” sign cracks me up. 😉

  3. Oh my goodness there is NOTHING like a sunny Cape Town winter’s day spent outside! Sob indeed! We miss our favourite family and our favourite country. Loved to see it on our screen! Blessings to all.

  4. Wow. Those are some pretty beach huts/sunshine/sand/rocks. In fact, it’s all beautiful! I know it’s winter, but it kind of looks better than the Summer we’ve had so far… but then it IS Wimbledon this week and you can’t have Wimbles without good old English rain!

  5. Wonderful, wonderful! Its been years – must go there again. Such colourful inviting photos 🙂 glad you had such a blast! love, Karyn

  6. We seem to be following you around rather unintentionally….we’ve just got back from THAT beach on another glorious winter’s day! We are so spoilt aren’t we?!

  7. Hay April O., We do definitely have beaches going for us… in the middle of the hustle and bustle of city life there is always a respite – it is just a matter of getting ourselves there!!! Hope you have a fun week!!!

  8. Hay Jacki… I know I moan about winter but really I have nothing to complain about at all!!! A week of rain and then a glorious day… So worht it for those glorious ones… Hope your summer is getting into gear!!! How fun summer in a totally new place!!!

  9. Hay Abitofanenthusiast… Our winter has been fairly hideous by our standards but really we do have plenty of glorious days… when I should catch up with the damp laundry but somehow going to the beach seemed more worthwhile!!! Hope your summer gets better and better…

  10. Hi Sherrin, So good to hear from you and glad we could bring back some happy memories!!! Hope you have a great day!!!

  13. Hay Stephanie, loving your summer and your birthdays… yes we do have great beach days – winter is the best time for treasures as well… it is well worth enduring the rotten wet weather for the golden days inbetween!!!

  14. Just lovely! You are so inspiring – I need to load up my tribe and head out for a beach day (Northern California)! Thanks!

  15. Hay Michelle, So glad to inspire!!! I think the easiest way is to just step out the door!!! Lately I have been just stopping while we are out already and play for an hour or two before heading home… Otherwise I totally over-plan and want to pack everything and do everything!!! Hope you get to the beach really really soon!!! Have a great week!!!
