Instagrammers like the dusk and the dawn, it’s all about capturing the light… And it is almost mid-winter here and sunrise is at an almost reasonable hour. This means that I am happy to join instagrammers at one of the things they like best… sunrise walks.

Last weekend we went for an amble at “The Old Zoo”… yes, in the olden days when I was very very young Cape Town had an actual zoo, just below Rhodes Memorial and alongside the University of Cape Town… today it is in ruins and a great place to head out with a crowd and take interesting photographs.

You can tell it was a zoo…

First things first.. they scatter…

I love how they all meet and they all get their own stunning and unique photographs, they hunt down their own story…

Spot the instagrammer…

They watch and wait…

and wait…

They plot and plan…

They set-up…

They clamber…

At incredible heights… photographic athletes…

The top of the world on a very crisp cold morning…

And wait for the sun to peak through the clouds…

They are fearless and will climb into dark corners…

And find their way down into the lions den…

They will clamber into cages…

To get their shot…

They will find curves…

And lines…

And textures…

And dragons eating trees…

And Just like that the sun was up…

And we wandered over to U.C.T. (University of Cape Town)…

Onto Campus…

These guys are not just about snapping… they are looking for photographs… looking for the shot that makes instagramming an art…

Looking for angles…

And just beautiful leaves…

You can not beat the campus leaves…

Wandering through the avenues…

Finding the textures…

The lines…

And primary colors…

And secondary colors…

And crannies…

Observers…

And a little wild life…

And patterns…

And history…

And the place where I left my bike day after day and year after year…

And the lecture theatre where you can step out of the window mid-class, grab a coffee and return…

And my old office window… but it isn’t an office anymore, some things change…

And somethings never do…

The hall where I wrote so many exams…

And the view from it…

And would that be an instagrammer…

And of course the group photograph, would be perfect on the steps…

The inevitable instajump…

And the reverse group shot…

If you travel and Instagram then take a visit to IG Travel Thursday…

Such great and interesting photos. Thanks for linking up.
I love all your photos, ESPECIALLY for the glimpses into your youth on the UCT campus.
I should do one of those throwback Thursday posts soon with Rhodes pics of me and D (HAHA!)
Hay there Leigh, thank you so much for stopping by… I just have to say how much I love IGTravelThursday!!! Hope you have a fantastic week ahead!!!
Hay Marcia, It did feel like a step back in time, really enjoyed the walk… and seeing how much has changed and how much hasn’t. Luckily I don’t think we have any photos dating back to that era in our lives, so there will be no throwback Thursday posts from this side!!! Wishing you all the best this week… you go with your party planning!!!
Beautiful images!! We don’t really have proper sunrises or sunsets here in Norway at the moment, as it’s the time for midnight sun! No complaints about that though, I love all the light after darkness of the winter 🙂
Thank you Satu… from a very cold to us Cape Town… we cannot imagine the world of the midnight sun, how wonderfully different!!! I am very excited about your cycling adventure that you are going to embark on – wishing you all the very best and to be sure I will be following along!!! Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a great weekend!!!
