So we had a week off school and I remember writing “the week that was” last time we had a week off school and thinking: “Man that was busy!” And reminded myself that one week was not long enough for a good break… Well guess what this week was more of the same madness!!! And we loved almost every second of it… Firstly the weather was glorious… and we did more than a few outings – totally unheard of for us!!! Anyway here comes our week – hold onto your chair…
There were walks in the great outdoors:
First thing in the week our quest for a cow led us to these freshly born kids, just an hour or two beforehand, I know they are not cows – but let’s face it they are really cute!!!
And feeding of horses…
And a feather hunt:
And the winner was:
There was swinging:
And then some more swinging:
There was a visit to the science center:
And I loved these blocks…
And then off to friends in the city for dinner…
I could seriously live with that view outside my bedroom window:
And my kids have decided apartment living suits them well!!!
Especially if there is a park directly opposite!!!
And someone really wished he wasn’t so short!!!
Otherwise we had a reptilian outing – cool if you are into that sort of thing…
For the record I am not!!!
Otherwise there was tree climbing:
And bug hunting:
And bug finding!!!
And great big treats:
And milkshakes: (I think this has to be one of my all time favorite photographs!!!)
There was even walking on air!!! And I normally chop unsuspecting friends out of pictures but hay I left that bump in the picture because it was born!!! Welcome to the world little one!!!
And closer to home there was camping:
And a movie:
And books and books and books – someone has discovered that he can read!!!
So our book of the week has to be The Ravenous Beast:
And this is what each of the hoods got up to:
Hood #1: Left this musician on my keyboard to remind me that we are headed for the mad music time of year, with concerts and exams and shows abounding:
Hood #2: Did all sorts of scientific, electrical stuff.
And decided the time has come to read a few folk the stories of Shakespeare… and they loved it!!!
Hood #3: Caught up on her crafts…
Hood #4: Has taken to clowning around – who’s surprised!!!
Hood #5: Built a boat.
And made some yogurt and did some lemoning…
Hood #6: And to the sweet granny that thought my child would put bugs into this bug box… she had other plans… She keeps finding these slithery beasts in the garden and making a home for them. This is why we have house rules. She has learnt well though, and at the end of each day she tosses them into the neighbors garden.
Hood #7: Did some serious dancing around while her brother trumpeted.
Hood #8: Indoors, in toys,
Up inside,
And out:
He was just delightful!!!
And after reading all that I just want you to know that one week break from school is never enough. Everyone blogging about back to school and shiny new crayons, and book bags and schedules and good intentions… should be inspiring me to be mighty prepared for tomorrow.
Let’s just say we will just have to see how it goes on the day!!! That’s us!!! Have a great week!!!
Still no cow?
Oh Tara!!! We never actually went into the touch farm – we got tooo carried away with the goats!!! But I do have a cow plan for later this week!!! Would you believe it!!! Finally we will get to see a cow!!!! Have a great week!!!
