This past week Cape Town saw a simply epic as a whole waddle of penguin supporters walked all the way from Gansbaai to Stanford to Hermanus to Kleinmond to Betty’s Bay to Strand to Muizenburg to Boulders Beach… you can take a look at a map of the walk here. An incredible feat or feet!!! The reason for the walk was to raise awareness for the plight of the endangered penguin. Well we got up bright and early on Saturday morning and joined them for some fun… We walked from Fish Hoek to Boulder’s Beach and I think there were some proud achievers amidst the gang.

We got a bit distracted by the rail works…

We passed fishermen…

And fisher-birds!!!

And walked around the back of the mountain we are always leaping over…

And rounded the bend and saw our goal…

We walked past the cormorant rock…

And into the next bay…

All the way wondering if we had missed the fellow waddlers… Past more rail works…

And through the sand bank…

And then a glance behind us told us…

The waddlers were on the way…

And before we knew it, they were upon us…

Characters connected…

And on we went…

Part of the team…

And on we waddled…

“Hoot if you love penguins…”

No time for a rest or a float across the bay…

And I always have to take the odd colorful photograph…

And a clear blue sea…

And noticed things that you never notice when you drive by… like the tattoo parlor!

Or the cactus on the roof!!!

Walking on…

Past the harbor…

And the clock tower…

Past spectators…

Of one kind and another…

Could have used a bike!!!

Or stopped for a rest at one of the beautiful houses in Simonstown…

Marching on…

Didn’t stop to ring the bell…

Didn’t stop for tea at the tea room…

And on a bit more… the guys that made it all the way…

And suddenly we were met by the penguins!!!

And not just one or two…

Down the hill to Boulders Beach…

Clearly a lot of folk love penguins enough to waddle for them!!!

And there’s the whole gang…

And a chance to rest…

And thanks to our wonderful support team…

And I spotted this really good looking penguin sipping orange juice!!!

And this is the incredible team of true athletes that walked for days and days…

And this is Hood #1 being interviewed for TV!!!

And this is the reason for the walk…

And such a long way home… we caught a ride!!!

Definitely a lot of fun and we can’t wait to join the Penguin Waddlers next year as well…
