Crispy Chocolate Cornflake Crunch in Se7en Steps…

So tomorrow is chocolate pudding day and lets face it some days you need to be better prepared for than others… I used to  make these when I was a kid, they were in my big sisters Brownie Cookbook and they were yummy deluxe. So this is what you are aiming for:

  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups of cornflakes.
  • 1/2 cup of honey.
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa.
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of sugar.

Let’s Play The Game:

Step 1: Put the butter, sugar, honey and cocoa in a pot.

Step 2: Gently warm the ingredients, until they are melted…

Step 3: Once the ingredients are melted take them off the heat. At this stage you have a great chocolate sauce that you can use for almost anything. It is my routine pour over ice-cream sauce and very fine!!!

Step 4: Add the cornflakes and stir them through… you may think you don’t have enough chocolate sauce but keep stirring, you most likely do. Your cornflakes will get covered in chocolate sauce.

Step 5: Spoon them onto a greased baking tray… DSC_0700 Step 6: Pop them in the fridge until they are set … or not – I see two are already missing from the tray!!! Hmmm – I would guess that was my friend nobody!!!

  1. Hay KM again!!! All time favorite healthy dessert – off the top of my head… fruit kebabs. (I had a friend who soaked hers in sugar syrup – not so healthy!!!) but we make them with fresh fruit – mostly soft summer fruit. Pineapples work best, with peaches, mango and apricots in between… apples and bananas also work. We cook them on the braai (barbecue) but I am sure you can do them under the grill. You can sprinkle them with a dash of sugar, but the natural sugars caramelize as they grill and they are really yummy!!! Otherwise you can’t beat frozen fruit chunks with a dollop of yogurt whizzed in the blender for a smoothie… I think I should blog the kebabs… thanks for the idea!!! Have a great week!!!
